He should be a serviceable backup but some team might offer him a ridiculous amount to start. So how many years and guaranteed money should the Bears offer? What about 3 years 12M with 6M guaranteed? Too much or too little?
He's proven squat really . I guess he's proven that he knows how to read D's & run an O & stand in under pressure w/o wetting his pants . I'd offer him minimum $$$ with incentives and a few minor bonuses - he still has a long way to go before we even get close to offering anything with the word " millions " in it .
I like how he's played in 3 starts, but I wouldn't offer him anything yet, because there is such a small body of work at his point. See how he performs in these 3 final games. He's probably a backup at best, so lets not overpay for the guy.

If this what you have seen out of this kid then you need to start watch the games, because it's clear your the person here hasn't seen the promise this kid has to offer the Bears.
I am not saying offer him any major deal but he deserves far more minimum money. If the Bears think like you the best we can hope for is the Bears don't play the team he goes to, because the will walk all over the Bears
gotta agree w/JABF, you don't offer him anything yet, he's got a few more games to see what he can do, specifically out in bad weather. If he doesn't have an arm capable of throwing in bad weather, then you cannot offer him anything. If he again can only muster 10 points in this O, then you cannot offer him anything. If he is able to throw in bad weather and continue to help create scoring drives then ya you make him a legit offer, and you do it before FA.

Thanks for sharing your perspective on this guy, JJ. I know that you played on offense in the NFL for a number of years, and you were also on a Super Bowl team, so I do value your perspective here.
I figure we have a rare opportunity to see Barkley perform in a starting role for three more games. Normally he wouldn't have had this opportunity but injuries gave him a shot to showcase what he is capable of. And it is against quality opponents. These are good teams he is facing. I am VERY much looking forward to seeing him perform in these final 3 games.
You have to wait and see how he finishes the season. If he proves himself to be worth keeping and using next year then you offer him a minimum contract for a couple years. He's most likely only going to be a back up so he should only be paid that. The guy couldn't even make it as back up for any other team in the league so you can't pay him much.

Yell ya if PFF has him graded high enough you have to offer him a good contract, until we know what PFF knows how can you make a decision right?
and remember pff is just short for pffffffffffffffffffffffffft
