- Williams - Nabers with the trade offer I gave you. - New center with Fields traded with a 2nd round pick - 4 years of a rookie contract
I win in the end of what's better.
You might be right. There’s no guarantee on either of these plans. Sometimes I think JAFB has the right attitude. Just try to be optimistic that it all works out. But that not easy after watching the Bears miss at the QB position for decades. At least with your stats, there’s a 70% chance with Williams.
This is the way. Whatever you want doesn't matter. They will do what they will do. You just have to wait and see what happens. Then we can discuss. And even then, until they play a while, you don't know if it was right or wrong. I'm just hanging back and waiting to see what they do. I have my preferences of course, but they don't factor into what will happen. But of course, the forum is just for that..... discussing options, preferences, etc
You act like there isn't anymore talented WR's in the class outside of Harrison.
These are the top WRs in this class. One of those 3 will be there. Sure it won't be Harrison but what's more important a 4k passer who can throw 30+ TDs or a hall of fame WR with a bad QB throwing him the ball? I wouldn't mind Poles trying to trade up to #5 for Nabers. He reminds me of Chase. This class is loaded with WR talent.
Last year JSN was the must have WR, and Carter was the only pick to in the top 10. These hardline stances of college players is thanks to Jim Rome and his hot take culture that all but ruined all talk radio and social media. JSN was hardly the best rookie WR last year, not even that close. And after a hot start Carter cooled quickly; Will Anderson more tackles, more sacks more stuffs. Carter did have to forced fumbles and recovered 1, that's what he's got on Anderson.
Meanwhile Dexter Sr after that first month finished similar to Carter in sacks. Carter wasn't the must have, only one to draft DL/pass rusher. It's never that cut and dry.
There are really good WR's all over the first 2 rounds of the draft its a matter of finding the one that fits what your O does, and finding the one that will work to perfect his game.
So, you think Harrison is just one of several nearly equal “really good” WRs? Go find any of the 1,000 mock drafts online where he isn’t the first non-QB off the board.
Carter is by far the best rookie DL and JSN was held back by them using him 21 times (literally) for screen passes until late in the season when they finally started using him downfield — caught a game-winning TD. He was also a rookie playing behind Metcalf and Lockett last year. Lockett is age 31 now, so expect JSN to start taking on more. You won’t find any Seahawks fans who aren’t excited about him. I think we previously established that you don’t watch many Seahawks games.
Alex, I could be wrong about it all and admit it. But I will always feel like the Bears were given this wonderful gift in Justin Fields - and we blew it with him.

I liked how he improved over the course of the season, and I loved that game-winning catch. He seems like a solid route runner. He was a rookie and will be a LOT better in his 2nd season. I just think there is a lot to learn with WR's entering the NFL that first season. But gotta admit I loved watching him play this year. This year it's the Bears' turn to get a great complimentary WR for DJ.

I think that there are 2-3 guys every year that are "generational" and end up not being the best of that class, even if they are still really good.
No Carter wasn't the best rookie DL, Will Anderson beat him out for that, and it's not close, NOT CLOSE, which is what I said likely would happen before the year. And Will did it w/out 1/2 the supporting cast that made Carters first month so easy. And Will is still in the playoffs, and actually did things in his first playoff game, sack and a stuff, what did Carter do; same as the last month of the season; squat.
Don't make excuses for JSN, your the stat guy, stats don't lie; haven't all season. Dudes been mid to low tier in rookie WR's #'s.

Anderson is damn good. For me, it was a toss-up between him and Carter in the draft.
You are wrong about JSN. That’s what happens when you just look at stats and don’t see the games. He was never going to have a lot of rookie stats the way Waldron used him and playing WR3 behind two Pro Bowl caliber receivers. They had 2000 yards.

Harrison is Randy Moss 2.0. I will stand on that.
I think you and Ric would both agree that it takes more than one rookie season to truly know what you have in a player. Some take off that rookie year and are great right out of the chute. But many need a 2nd or even a 3rd year to reach their potential. That's why folks have said you really need 3 years to properly evaluate a draft. I think that is especially true for OL, TE's and WR's. I try so hard to not overeact to players that rookie year. Every player, team and coach is unique because people are unique. Just because one player is great that 1st season doesn't mean another player in that class can't overtake that guy. Some are later bloomers.
Regarding JSN, I do like him a lot. That game he won for them late in the season was pretty cool. He is gonna be a keeper for sure I think. Great route runner too. I so hope we get our stud this draft to complement DJ. Moore. I think that will happen too.

yes i'm wrong, I was wrong about Lance also, and about Carter, and about JF not having enough support this year.
You sound like my wife, I'm always wrong somehow, but actually not.

We may both be wrong on a few things. Poles may turn out to be an absolute genius after all.

LOL. The frustrating thing for me, Ric, is that usually Mrs JABF ends up being right. Some day I'll tell 'ya the story about dropping the tree on the roof of our old home about 25 years ago. She said it was gonna be a bad idea. It might hit our home... and it was a 60 or 70 foot tree about 4 feet in diameter at the trunk. All us guys in the neighborhood had big honking ropes... I patiently explained to Mrs JABF about how it was "all about the cutting with the chain saws... the tree was going to harmlessly fall AWAY from the house. We made the final cut. All the men in the neighborhood tugged on those ropes - and that tree decided it was gonna fall on my roof. We were like tiny ants trying to get that tree to fall the way WE wanted it to fall. And the tree damned near took out our neighbor's home too. I was lucky it only clipped the roof near our bedroom corner of the home. It could have crushed most of our home.
I listened to Mrs JABF more often after that one (I have other stories... it usually doesn't go well when I don't listen... bad things happen :-)
