Apparently he is only giving his medicals to the teams he's meeting w/with at the combine or private workouts. Basically his group said, if you don't have a shot of drafting me you don't need this. He does have a point; even if it's odd. Between this and the no agent is giving me some R Smith vibes though. Just feels like everything will be a thing w/C-Will even if they shouldn't be.
Yeah, he said he'd do a physical with every team he takes a visit too. This isn't the biggest of deals to me. Like you touched on...the Dad may be a bigger pain in the ass. Dude knows business, and there may come a point where Caleb is gonna have to tell him what HE wants...but yeah...I'm already seeing how that second contract negotiation is gonna go.
Thats my concern. Rookie deal, fairly easy. 2nd deal is going to be a real issue unless he's putting up numbers that have him top 5 in the league, and it's just here's x% above the highest contract.

These are problems we want to have.
Yep. I'd rather have to deal w/a Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson situation then a Mitch or Fields one. Worst case would be a guy like Dak or Cousins, who are going to want similar contracts w/out the post season wins.
I would be lying if I said all of these things didn’t bother me. Each one in and of itself seems more or less explainable. But collectively it does make me a bit apprehensive. I am trusting in the Bears to be able to correctly assess this guy and make the right decision here.
Having said that, I am not going to overreact if the Bears don’t pick this guy.
I was reading that Jayden Daniels impressed Poles and the staff in his interview. Of course we don't know this for sure but he is of one of the top QB's so at least we have fodder to drive us nuts lol.
If Ryan Poles drafts Jayden Daniels I'm gonna kick him in the nuts.
I would keep Fields over JD and you all know I'm not in favor of keeping Fields.
I've heard Jayden Daniels has been impressing a lot of people. Might be time to swap the ratings numbers...
If anyone is going to be a bust this draft class it's Daniels. He's a slower thinner JF. He was also throwing to some of the best talent in college, and he has only produced at the level for one year. He has his upsides, and may even do well in the league, but he's got a lot of question marks.
You know, I keep going back and forth. I think the one that has the most talent is WIlliams. I just keep getting this feeling he is going to be a head case. If you take him, then you have to be sure you can guide him in a good direction, knowing his father is whispering in his ear. If you don't take him, then I think Maye. Is Maye any better than JF? Not sure and so you go back to that question with Williams out of the equation. Of course, if you trade JF, you HAVE to pick someone. And hope you got it right. This is really pivotal for the Bears, and I don't think that there are too many that are really solid in the belief they will get it right. Lots of faith, hope and optimism in the new management, but still not sure that people think they will get it right anyway.
It is clear we are overestimating Fields, if not we would be getting a clear mid 1st rd pick, no? He wasnt that good here, if you look at the bigger picture, and if Poles cannot find a guy at least a tad better than him, with two 1st draft picks, well it would be time to say goodbye.
It really starting to sound like the market for Fields isn't very strong. You guys see the guests CHGO had on yesterday? Some real heavy hitters and none of them are gushing over Fields trade value. Poles may be lucky to get a 2nd for him.
One of them flat out said: "no one wants the 15th best QB in the NFL" and that's Fields ceiling IMO.

H/J, CHGO(same/not same) NBC Sports Chicago. All of them are basically saying the same thing, it's an easy choice to go CWill, except for Chicago media/fans. And the idea of a 2nd rd pick is looking high end; but w/only 3 teams looking at him.
He's not seen as this stud who's expected to be great at the next team, that is only talk by people in Chicago.

Yep, I've been watching the same sources. Poles going out of his way to make it clear he's on the block is a sign the phone isn't exactly blowing up with great offers.
Reality check time for the Fields crew -- he isn't worth what you think he is. Most teams aren't excited about a guy who can't throw for 3000 yards even if he can run like a deer. It's a passing league.
