I found it interesting that Poles is personally going to the Jayden Daniels' Pro Day, but is just sending a team representative to the Maye Pro Day. Maybe that is simply due to LSU having more draft prospects than North Carolina. Or it could be that Maye is the #3 QB prospect on their draft board ranking, which is different than what this guy, Chris Trapasso, ranked them. He has Maye, Williams, Daniels in his 1, 2, 3 order. He seemed to love Jordan Love, his #2 guy on the list. I'm not saying he's wrong, but it seemed like an interesting take on these QBs.

Yeah, I definitely noticed that. During his presser Poles said something to the effect of "yeah.... I can't make that one" when asked about it so I just took it as his schedule not allowing it. I kind of made a mental note that I was going to see what they did after his team went there. If there was some follow up activity on him, that would indicate that he was probably true to his word and he is interested but just could not make it. No activity would mean either they were not impressed or there was not much interest. For all intents and purposes, I think they are pretty locked in on Williams. That could change, but I think it would take a lot.

Awhile back I was really trying to find things to like about Maye and Daniels, hoping they were good enough that the Bears could trade down with Washington and draft one of the other guys & get the big haul. But as much as I tried to find something (anything) to base that on and rationalize a trade down - I just couldn't find anything. Williams is just on another tier than those two guys. It is not three guys in the top-tier. It is Caleb Williams in tier-1, Maye and Daniels on the 2nd tier... and the rest of the guys. Daniels has an obscene level of talent around him (throwing to two incredible NFL level WRs, and behind a good OL). Maye looks better than Trubisky, but I do get the Trubisky vibe to some extent with him... a mix of good and bad stuff. Williams played behind a horrible OL and on a team that just wasn't that good. He still performed some amazing stuff. It will be interesting to watch these 3 guys in the NFL. But it sure looks to my (admittedly) untrained eye that Caleb is the complete package. It will be fascinating to watch him transition with a better offense than what he had at USC last year.

It will be interesting to see which of the 2024 QBs develops into the better NFL QBs. Maye, Daniels, CWill, Penix, McCarthy, Nix or somebody late rounder. College QBs are so very tough to predict & project for success in the NFL.
Looking forward, Williams should be coming into the best situation any Bears QB has ever been drafted into. In fact, he is coming into a situation that almost no other #1 pick QB could match. He will have at least 4 legit weapons to throw to, a decent OL, and a good defense. And that doesn't even count what we can get with the #9 pick.
Yeah, gotta admit that I find it mind-boggling to think about the positives this time around with a new QB1. Poles has set the team up for success. I don't agree with every single move he makes, but overall I think we have the best GM we've had in a long time here.
I've said all along that I trusted Poles. If Williams fails here its not cause Poles put him in a bad situation. He's doing everything Pace and Poles himself, didn't do for Fields. For that I applaud him. Williams is a tremendous talent, and I'm excited about his prospects, but the Bears have to help him realize his potential. Exciting times are here fellas!

He’s going to LSU to interview Nabers just in case he slips to #9, which he won’t.

+1 He is probably checking out Brian Thomas Jr. too. I like how he covers all the bases because you never know how a draft will break for a team. Crazy things happen sometimes. Poles seems to be meticulous in prep like this.
Young had a better offensive line and a better OC. That matters.
Lol are you really trying to tell me that Young had a better offense than Fields?
The excuses people use for Fields is crazy. There is a reason Fields only got a 6th round pick in value....
Young had a better offensive line and a better OC than Fields - reading is a skill.
And for the record, the Bears turned down better offers in order to let Fields go to a team he wanted to go to. This was done to help with the locker room drama that was going to come from trading him, of which we are starting to see now with Jaylon Johnson and other guys.
Just because you want to believe something to be true doesn't mean it is. Fields was respected highly in the locker room.
