In all honesty, looking at the past several years of the Chicago Bears you gotta wonder if they have a clue about winning football here. If we want to draft a choirboy and continue to lose, well, that may not be as satisfying than getting a guy (like so many of the elite athletes in the world) who is a bit of a challenge - but who CAN win. In modern sports you need coaches in place who don't have to have the choirboys. They need the skillset to manage difficult and challenging super-athletes. If we wanted a choirboy we should have just kept Mitchell Trubisky. He would be well-behaved... but we wouldn't win much with him here. I'm all for getting a guy here who can win a Super Bowl (or more than one) for us.
I’ll say the same applies to Carter. He played extremely well this year, and he was not a locker room distraction.
The dude has mental issues. Said he was going to make a child fatherless.

How does he make a child fatherless? He isnt going to father a child? Or he's making a child and offing himself? Or he's donating sperm to the sperm banks? Or he's going to kill a father? Weird thing to say however it is interpreted.

I agree with your diagnosis. I think he was really watched over as a rookie and trying to walk the line. IMHO he has got to be the NFL's most likely to do some crazy Alonzo Spellman stuff.

I think an Olineman on another team was trash talking during a game and it ticked Carter off so he threatened to make that guy’s kids fatherless, so threatening to kill him essentially. But David thinks he’s put his issues behind him.

I was thinking "Tank Johnson" type stuff (stupid stuff).

I think there is a huge difference between what Carter is doing and someone suffering from a legitimate mental illness, like in Spellman's case.

Who knows what Carter's deal is, but if he is talking about making a kid fatherless it could be mental illness.
It will become obvious as his career plays out. Not saying what it will eventually be. Just that Spellman ended up with a classic psychiatric diagnosis.

Chandler Jones and Jerimiah Ratliff are two more current players that come to mind when I think of talented players that crazy their way off teams despite their playing talents.
