This cracked me up and made my day. Gotta admit that I do like this guy. For being 22 years old he seems pretty darned relaxed and polished. LOL about his description of Poles with Eberflus:

Bernard Berrians first 4 years in the league were very similar to Mooney, and he did it starting less games than Mooney did. But sure...that dudes a joke. Rashied Davis had more yards than Mooney did this year during Rex's best season...but sure...the depth at receiver was better for Fields. Allen Robinson...BUM!

Similar to Mooney, and Mooney isn't that good. Never said ARob was a bum, just not as good as Moore; which is accurate. Don't play the red herring game here, it won't work.

At no time in the history of this board, until you and now, as anyone looked back and thought, ya BB and Davis, great WR's.

Here's the deal. Nate Davis played poorly last year. Not Claypool bad, but he WAS a disappointment. Yes, his contract means he will be on the roster (he reminds me of the Lucas Patrick deal... I am underwhelmed with the acquisition). Keep him 1 more season due to the contract, but don't rely on him as your starter at RG. He's okay as a backup. You could do worse.

Regarding drafting JPJ, I would not invest a #9 in him, but in a trade down it could make sense. The heck of it is, he grades above all other interior OL guys in this draft (ahead of all of the guards). I don't like bouncing guys around (not starters... swing backups can). But I don't think it would hurt JPJ to spend a season at guard. I think he could learn a ton from lining up next to Cushenberry. I just don't see that as a negative. You are grooming your future there... a guy who could be your center for a decade. That would be an OL of:

Brax - Jenkins - Cushenberry - JPJ - Wright

I would LOVE to see that lineup for a couple years even. No, it probably won't happen. Is that a waste of JPJ? I don't think so. You get a great IOL from G to G there. But I agree that at #9 that would be too rich. But I have no problem in a trade down doing that. If the top WRs and TE are gone at #9, I would be okay with a trade down that harvested the best IOL in the draft for us.

There are many ways to skin the cat here. I doubt we see the JPJ thing. And I do believe Poles will fix the OL unless he's a half-wit asking to get fired when the new kid fails at QB1. Fix the OL, get a quality WR or two to add to the WR room, and he will be the hero here in Chicago.

Yeah, you hit the 2 key points:

A) Williams is easily the best QB prospect this draft and this is a strong draft for QBs overall.

B) Williams has a higher ceiling than Fields.

It's been the obvious and best move since week 18 ended.

Me too. That would be a stupid move. JPJ is a 2nd rounder (one year starter) and if some team takes him the first, it better not be the Bears.

Remember when Detroit drafted 2 low impact positions in the 1st last year? DON'T DO THAT

I definitely get it that there are premium positions that you target with top draft resources. Makes perfect sense. Regarding JPJ I don't think he will be there in the 2nd round. Maybe, but maybe not. Definitely, I don't think you spend a #9 on him. That would be crazy. But in a trade down it might make sense. As far as him being an impact player, he would probably be one of the most important impact players on offense over the course of his career. The quality of the interior OL is valued more by some O coaches who greatly value having a solid pocket for a QB to work out of. JPH, could anchor that IOL for a decade or more at center... possibly at an All Pro level. He would be one of those multiplier players like Sweat is on the DL. The OL could use a guy like that too. Late 1st round pick would not be crazy if the Bears truly believe he would be an elite level IOL player. Could you just "get a guy" in FA instead? Well, I'd hope it would work out better than what we have seen recently with Lucas Patrick and Nate Davis signings. Those two were not good.

A-Rob has done something Moore has yet to do in this league...get over 1400 yards receiving. I agree that I think Moore is better...but A-Rob in his prime was damn good too. And talk about red herrings...when did I say Berrian and Davis were great? Never. All I said was that they were better than the #2 and #3 receiver we had this year. Thats accurate. Hell...they'd have been better than our #2 and #3 last year...could make the argument that Berrian was at least better than the #1 too! Again, that doesn't mean he was great...just better than the crap we've had the past two years not named DJ Moore.
