I have a theory that Carter deliberately messed up his interview with Poles so that he could go to the Eagles. I have no proof. It just makes sense. Likewise, if Williams doesn’t want to play for the Bears, this is a way to get out. However, I don’t know why he would prefer the Commanders.
I don't know why he would either. The Bears look to be an ascending team that has the draft and FA $$$ resources to put a very very solid team around the QB1 - and an exciting young OC (a couple of these candidates are really good). I would be surprised if Caleb would want to go to the Commanders who are not in a good place right now as compared with the Bears... keeping in mind that the 1st overall pick of the draft is going to a crap team... that is how the NFL draft works. The WORST teams get the high pick. If he thinks he can hide in college for another year and get a better team, well he's an idiot. And honestly I don't believe he is an idiot. I think all of this rumor stuff is just that. Baseless rumor.
Maybe because our coaching staff and in particular OC and or offense HC over the years haven't lasted over 2 to 3 years in a long time. I don't have any data in hand but Ron Turner and the great John Schoop might have made 3 to 4 years. Other than that, constantly learning a new offense and language every 2 to 3 years may be a reason QBs fail in Chicago and impact QBs wanting to play here. It's really no wonder r QBs struggle.

Just a quick follow up. Searched for Bears OC history and its worse than I thought.

We've just gotta hope that the Bears can learn from mistakes and get this right THIS time. LOL, at some point you gotta figure the law of averages kicks in if nothing else and we just get lucky :-)

You need to provoke luck. And we dont. Bears establish everything in a way failure is imminent. Sometimes I feel nobody can be THAT idiotic, but still... here we are.
I like the sport saying: the more I train, more I get lucky. We don't 'train', we just show up and pray. Hail Marys.

Not trying to make a point, just interested. Read somewhere that the average OC stays 2 years with a team, either gets a HC job or is replaced. Its not just the Bears, good OCs move on to become HC and if average to bad OCs get replaced every two years by every team around the league.

And we are still doing it backwards.
I agree, and I am so hoping the Bears can finally start "making their own luck" and we start winning. This 2024 season is going to be pivotal I think. If it is going to happen it needs to happen now. Bears have the resources in the draft and FA this year to make this happen if it is ever going to happen. They HAVE to get this OC hire right this time. No more misses.
