I don't know why he would either. The Bears look to be an ascending team that has the draft and FA $$$ resources to put a very very solid team around the QB1 - and an exciting young OC (a couple of these candidates are really good). I would be surprised if Caleb would want to go to the Commanders who are not in a good place right now as compared with the Bears... keeping in mind that the 1st overall pick of the draft is going to a crap team... that is how the NFL draft works. The WORST teams get the high pick. If he thinks he can hide in college for another year and get a better team, well he's an idiot. And honestly I don't believe he is an idiot. I think all of this rumor stuff is just that. Baseless rumor.
Right. The Commanders are next in line. You can bet he’ll do his best to impress Poles.
But what do you think about my Carter theory? I think he did it with Seahawks, too. Although by all accounts, Pete Carroll really loved Witherspoon.
Who really knows how this all went down with Carter? I try really hard to not focus on the Carter thing. I wish him the best, but I try to be forward-focused for my own mental health :-)
On a side note, speaking of Pete Caroll, I am so sad about him getting fired. I've always thought he was a good coach. I have a lot of respect for the guy. No coach is perfect. I believe he would have led the team back on track if he was given the time to do that. But fans are so impatient (we live in a time where patience is just not valued much anymore).
The tail does not wag the dog. If he doesn't want to declare until the Bears trade the pick, he can just sit it out until the draft. And then it will be too late. He's not very bright.
Exactly. He doesn't hold any cards. His agent needs to explain to him what can happen to his bank account if he plays in college another year and gets a significant injury.
If this guy had any heart, soul, and self confidence he'd understand that making the Chicago Bears relevant again would cement him as a hero forever of Americas best sports town. Winning a super bowl in SFO: Ho Hum. Win one in Chicago: He could run for Governor.

It still bugs me that the Seahawks and Bears both missed on Carter. It sits about like Trubisky/Mahomes. You are right about Pete. A lot of impatient fans on the Seahawks forum wanted him gone.
Speaking of impatience, did you hear Warren say that he is impatient? I hope he was sending a signal. Patience is a virtue, but only up to a point. Beyond that point, it’s a drag. Think Pace/Nagy. I don’t want that again. Warren says win Super Bowl is the goal. Great. When? I think an impatient CEO should expect this team to be Super Bowl ready 2025, or else heads roll.

Are we sure that any or may even all of this stuff was manufactured by the media and by idiots on social media?

I’m sure, because the story makes no logical sense. As I said, if Bears don’t draft him, the Commanders are next in line. How could he prefer that fate?

That's what I wonder too. None of this rumor stuff could be from Caleb.
