And the Kubiak connections would probably mean that he would be able to draw upon some amazing position-coach talent.  This is a big deal (at least I believe that) because a lot of an OC's success comes from being able to tap into great sub-coaches too.  With Klint's resume I'd bet a LOT of position coaches would hitch their career to Kubiak - the Kubiak family goes back over 40 years in the NFL (player and coaches).  Dad has both played and coached at the Super Bowl level, 7 Super Bowl appearances and Gary has 3 rings.  All three sons are in the NFL (2 coaches and 1 is a scout for the Cowboys).  Even though Klint is young, he has experience as a play-caller at the NFL level as an OC under a defensive head coach.  He is currently the passing coordinator under Kyle Shanahan for the San Francisco 49ers.  I'm looking forward to watching their game tonight in the playoffs against Green Bay.  One other thing I especially like is the fact that Kint actually played defense (safety) and was a team captain in college - but has been an offensive coach his entire coaching career.  So this guy knows BOTH sides of the ball.  This isn't a "Luke Getsy" because Klint's resume is stellar by comparison.   

This guy is light-years more qualified than Getsy.  In fact there is no comparison between these two men.

Interesting that again they are turning to an OC with limited experience as an OC. More than Getsy to be sure, but he doesn't meet the criteria so many on the board were asking for: He hasn't developed a QB, he only OCed for 1 year (8-9 record) and his OFF was solidly middlle of the road: 14th in points, 12th in yards, 11th in passing yards, 9th in passing TDs, 17th in rushing yards, 28th in rushing TDs and 20th in first downs.

This was an OFF that had Cousins (4221 yards, 33 TDs, 7INTs) along side Cook (1159 yards and only 6 TDS) and the Jefferson (1616 yards 10 TDs)-Thielen (729 yards and 10 TDs) combo. Seems he under-performed as an OC.

I have no say in who they hire, but He wouldn't be first on my list. It seems we are again saying that he comes from a system that has had success and he should be able to bring in position coaches due to his contacts. All of that somewhat echos what we were saying about Getsy, that he came from a successful system and hopefully should have good contacts.

However he would be a better hire than some other names they have talked to.

Well, Getsy was the QB coach and the passing game coordinator for GB when Love was learning, so can't we say Getsy had a hand in developing Love? He had as much time with Love as Kubiak had with Purdy. Neither one called plays or designed the OFF.

Thats the problem with the way we fans look at stuff like this. We can always find an argument for one candidate over another but not see that all these guys (there are some exceptions) have the same warts and wrinkles. To me Kubiak is no different from Getsy, except for that one year he ran a middle of the road OFF in Minny and got canned.

Don't take this as a defense of Getsy. It isn't. But for a forum that for the most part listed exactly what we wanted on the next OC (developed a QB, ran a successful OFF for multiple years that won games...), IMO Kubiak doesn't check any of the boxes. He has a famous last name. He could work out, he could be Getsy 2.0

Yeah that's why I want Waldron > Kubiak right now.
