Offseason #1 - House-cleaning and possible new coaches

There are some things that I like about Flus that would make me ok with him sticking around. I like how he's kept the team together through some VERY TOUGH circumstances. You really can't understate the job he's done there and how difficult that can be in the NFL. It's not an easy thing. I thought the defense really improved once he took over and I think he's built a great environment in the locker room that guys clearly want to be a part of and stick with.

HOWEVER, just like I don't believe Detroit will ever win anything of significance with their current HC, I'm not sure Eberflus leads this team to the ultimate promised land. Could I be wrong on that? Sure, but so far he's shown some things with in game management that trouble me. I have my reservations on Harbaugh...I've made that known...but he's a good damn coach. I think this team is very close. I expect them to be contending for a playoff spot next year. I think he could bring them to the promised land. Can he work with everyone for an elongated period of time to make this a situation where we are successful for 5 to 10 years? Thats my worry, cause he's a difficult guy. But I know he can coach. So if we can get him...sure, clean house. If not...I tread carefully.

At the very least Getsy needs to be fired. Thats a non-negotiable to me. I do not want to see him ruin this offense any more with his play calling. Its abysmal.

I think Flus' game day failures outweigh his ability to keep the team together. At some level these guys are professionals, they shouldn't need a mother-hen HC to keep them playing together. Yes, we have all seen what happens when it all falls apart (Trestman....good grief). And yes I understand this is not my college intermural flag football league. 

Flus number 1 job is to win games, and while the roster last season was beyond terrible, this season he directly cost them 3 games (Broncos, Lions, Browns) and I'll add the two Packers games to the list. They were unprepared to start the season and played the same yesterday as they did in the first game. Soft zone, no pressure, no urgency on OFF (which again, Flus approves the OFF game plan and he has the authority to yell at Getsy during the game), and no 15 yd penalty for yelling at the ref after Fields got cheap shotted (I'll complain about that until Flus is fired.) But hey, he'll send the tape in again. I'm pretty sure there is an intern at NFL offices that simply trashes an emails from Flus about Fields getting hit late.

now I'm just ranting........Bold above is IMO the bare minimum that should happen this week. 

I just watched the post-game Hoge and Jahns show. They think Fields and Getsy are gone and Flus stays.  Warren will make a public speech this week to support Flus. But if Harbaugh is coming, that changes everything. 

Did you see the post by butkus3595 in the thread on Poles won't make the decision on firing Flus?  It seems that since Flus would still be paid under terms of his contract, it is at the Warren/McCaskey family level.
