I gave it to the offensive line. That was one of the worst offensive line performances that I have seen in a long long time. DL in backfield on every play. Regarding the defense, yes it was bad, but when you hold an opposing team to 17 points in the NFL then that game HAS to be a win. If your offense can't score more than 17 points then you are probably losing that game.
The OL failure especially ticked me off due to the fact you can't evaluate Fields in a game like this - and I really wanted to see him play today for obvious reasons. But there is no evaluating a QB who has DL on him with the snap - they were on Fields like fire ants as soon as he took the snaps today. So quickly that he couldn't even use his legs to run for his life.
I agree with folks that the Bears need an upgrade at offensive coordinator. Fields has not had an NFL-quality OC since he came to Chicago. The OL blows chunks too. They need to add quality pieces to the OL in the draft (please, no more deadbeat JAG veterans). Draft legit OL talent. Don't waste another draft pick on QB until you have an environment where the kid can succeed. That BEGINS with an NFL-quality offensive line. We don't have one. We have the turnstile boys trying to block real men in games.
Outside of D.J. Moore we got nothing at WR. Zip. Nothing. Bears need to fix this in THIS draft. Two WRs are needed, and studs not JAGs. I'd double down with Marvin Harrison Jr first and then grab a 2nd guy with one of the remaining top picks - especially if you trade down and get extra picks.
I'd keep Eberflus and Fields - but bring in a good offensive coordinator. Do a tiny trade down and still get MHJ and extra picks, including a 2025 first round pick again in case Fields doesn't work out - have a safety net for 2025... a year where the offense should be able to support a young/new draftee QB if you do go that route.
Moving on....
The time has come. You saw it on full display today. Flus & Getsy need to go. Harbaugh WANTS this job. Just stop overthinking it, shut the **** up, and PAY HIM. He won't look like a child against men when facing LaFleur. Get Harbaugh in the building this week.
Fields? I'm sorry, I tried really hard and I really like him, but I just can't get there with Justin. Today's game wasn't his fault but he was definitely outplayed. He's improved but not nearly enough. He's STILL the worst QB in the division after 3 years. If you want to blame the organization for his failure, FINE I won't argue. But he has had like 40 starts now and still hasn't made it clear he's the guy. He should have made it clear by now.
My patience is up and I am done. Let's move on. I wish Justin the best of luck in Vegas or Denver or Tennessee cuz that's where he should be next year.
