Packers beat Bears (as always) - who gets the deflated ball?

Disappointed, but exactly what I expected. They turtled up and didn't even try to play a competitive game.

I picked OL, but I would have liked to split my vote between OL, coaching and Fields.

(1) @jabf put it exactly right in the above post. nothing to add.

(2) I saw Flus' conservative style all over this game. From the soft zones on DEF all the way to approving an OFF game plan based on shortening the game, this was a FLus game. With that game plan on OFF he needed his DEF to play great and they almost did. But once again, the soft zones lets too many skill position players run free. Credit goes to GB on OFF, they made the plays. But how many of Love's conversions were contested throws? Too few.

Getsy was predictable. My friends and I were able to call out the plays simply based on down/distance and formation. Not just run or pass, but where the run was going to go. He did Fields no favors with his play calling.

(3) Fields didn't step up in a game against a bottom 10 DEF. Blame coaching, OL, whatever and whoever you want, but he didn't step up and grab his future. He had a chance today to let his play make a statement, but he couldn't do it.  

WHERE I STAND ON THE BIG THREE AS OF 8:00 PM ON SUNDAY NIGHT:

(1) Fire Flus. He's not the HC needed to pull this team to the next level. He coaches not to lose, and he owns the conservative play on both sides of the ball. This was a game where he had nothing to lose, and he still played it safe. I'm also disappointed he didn't get a 15yd penalty for the hit on Fields. I know this is the "new NFL" but surely there is a 5th LB who could have planted Love on the next offensive play for the Packers so Flus could turn to the sideline ref and say "I didn't think you were protecting QBs today."

(2) Fire Getsy. Unimaginative play calling, predictable with his second down runs,...you name the complaint we've had over the years and he did it today.

(3) Fields, sadly is done in Chicago. Ruined, just not capable, I don't care what we call it. Keeping Fields for next season is asking for a repeat of this season--sub 200yd passing games, no TDs and 45 yards rushing. 9 points.

I don't care if they draft a QB at 1, 9 or second round. Fields can't start next season here in Chicago.

Sadly, reboot with a new HC, OC and QB. 

It's not just today.

We are now 95-107-4 vs. the peckers all time. 

That's -12 in the win column.

In 1993 we were +24.

We were also up by 24 games back when I was born in 1958. We beat them twice that year! We dropped down to +10 by 1975 but rebounded to +24.


Our record is now 12-48 since 1993. That's -36 overall since 1993.

And 10 straight losses.

Spin that any way you want. Blame whoever you want since 1993. But it makes me sick. So bear with me for a while here.... at least until Getsy gets fired. I'll start recovering then.

Today showed how the recent optimism was fools gold.  We beat a few crap teams in unimpressive fashion and everyone was ready to hand Fields, Flus, and even maybe Getsy the keys to the kingdom.

Today showed just how far away we still are.  Ask yourselves this--what rank in division are we right now at HC and QB?
It's pretty obvious we are 4th best in both.
Don't lie to yourself.
We are worst in both.


I'm all-in on getting Harbaugh and drafting a new QB.  That means no MHJ but oh well...
