I love that the division is returning to relevancy. The Bears are ascending the last half of this 1st year of the rebuild. We beat this Lions team just weeks ago and played Green Bay better than Dallas did today. Yes we lost that last game by 8 points and it was a huge disappointment. But the Bears are in an incredible draft and FA situation and will add some great pieces in this year-2 of the rebuild. The key is to get this offense coach hire right this time. If that happens then 2024 is going to be special for the Bears. We can beat the Lions (just did) and I don't see the Packers as being beyond the teams' ability to overcome in 2024 - again, if the team gets this offense right. And that is SO doable this second year in the rebuild. Huge difference between 2023 coming off a tank year and having 30 new/young players. Totally different situation and a much better situation.
I would love to see the Lions make it to the super bowl this year.
I am not as worried about the Lions as much as I am Green Bay. Love had really made their offense click. They are the real deal
If the Packers could somehow beat the 49ers, we will get Lions vs. Packers for NFC title.

+1 I totally agree... and when I was saying this a few months ago I got so much flak and blowback. I think Bears fans just could not accept the fact that Green Bay understands how to build offenses in general - and build/develop quarterbacks in particular. And they did not want to believe that these young WRs were going to be good. SMH. I'll never understand why Bears fans never understand that players can get better and ascend in talent. We label a player with our "stamp of approval" or "stamp of being a bust" and then figure it is a "done deal" forever. But it doesn't work that way. Sure, some players don't ascend. But it is more common that they do if they are being coached well and they are part of a unit that has the supporting talent that allows them to ascend. This isn't rocket-science here. It is as old a football itself. But, yeah, Green Bay is the real deal.
And another area where I have gotten blowback is on Goff being a decent QB. He is. Not a great one. Not a top-tier one. But he is now a pretty good QB1. A number of super bowls have been won with QB's no better than what Goff is. But people don't want to believe that. Sure, it is easier to win with a Tom Brady than a Trent Dilfer. But all the same, you can win. Not everyone gets a Tom Brady (another concept that totally escapes meatball fans).
A yard is a yard. If you throw the ball 8 yards, you gain 8 yards. If you run 8 yards, you gain 8 yards. Don’t tell me running doesn’t matter anymore in a “passing league.” That’s bullshit. Aaron Jones 118 yards and 3 TDs didn’t matter last night? A good running game helps your passing game — football.101. The best indicator of an offense is not passing yards. It is scoring average. And that correlates more with total offense (passing+running) rather than just passing alone. The top offenses are at 6000+ total offense. The Bears are at 5500. We need only 500+ yards to join the club in 2024. Are you telling me Marvin Harrison isn’t going to have 500+? Are you telling me getting rid of Getsy and adding JABF’s center isn’t going to boost this offense?

I'm hoping the team can be able to do both effectively. Being able to run and pass well is the ideal. And I get it that one component will always be better than the other on teams. But even with a stellar passing game it is good to at least have the threat of being able to run effectively on any play. The Bears can have both if we fix the coaching and draft well - and plug any remaining holes with that cap $$$ this year. This year. I'm thinking the team should have the resources to be highly competitive this year. And then top it off for 2025 with that draft/FA and roll with fully-rebuilt team, and a powerful team at that.
I just (honestly) get the negativity right now from many fans. I get it that the history here is one of failure in recent decades. And I do understand that it is hard to believe in the team when you have lived it as fans. But until I see otherwise, I am going to look at this team and the incredible resources we have available to us in this draft/FA and figure it is too early to turtle up and do the Chicken Little thing. The sky isn't falling. The sky is the limit for this team in 2024.

It’s a sure thing we can draft Marvin Harrison. It is almost a sure thing we can find a better OC than Getsy and a better center than Patrick. There’s even a fair chance we can get a free agent slot receiver better than Mooney. That’s all we need to get up to about 6500 total yards, and it’s all within relatively easy reach.
The alternative is to draft Williams and hope he is Mahomes 2.0. If I thought the “sky is falling” if we don’t do that, I would go for it. What is Poles thinking? If Williams is a great All Pro quarterback, he doesn’t want to be remembered as the GM who missed on Stroud in 2023 and Williams in 2024.

We have been over this a million times.
In another thread, a poster (think it was Brasil) brought up the same illustrative example that I did. Tennessee had the most fearsome running game in the NFL for years a while back with a great OL and Derrick Henry running over people every week. The best they were ever able to do was reach the AFCCG and that was only once.
What is the FT cost (avg of top-10 salaries) at QB? What is it at RB? What is the avg draft position of starting QBs? What is it for RBs?
The Pats dominated the NFL for 15+ years with a bunch of no-name committee RBs and Brady throwing 40-50 times a game. They used the quick passing game as a substitute for running the ball for years.
Which would you rather have: the best QB in the NFL or the best RB?
As for Harrison, sure he would help. Of course. But the QB is still the rate-limiting step and we simply need a better passer.

Our other expensive needs are a 3tech and DE. We need to improve our D also. Looking at how Green Bay moved the ball at will against us, made that really clear. Against a good offensive team, we are sitting ducks. We are not going to be able to get a top WR, DE and 3-tech (I don't think). And that does not even account for a QB if we go in that direction. The C and second WR we were always going to have to get out of the 1st, but whatever improvements we make will still move us closer

The reason we go over it a million times is that you keep misrepresenting what I said no matter how many times I put TOTAL OFFENSE in caps.
The Ravens have a run-oriented offense with Lamar Jackson like the Bears with Fields. 57% of their yards are passing, and 43% is running. With Fields and the run blocking ability of Brax, Jenkins, and Wright, we can also have a BALANCED offense with Harrison, Moore, and Kmet leading to 3500-4000 yards receiving.
I agree that Fields is a running threat for now and I really appreciate that about him. My main concern with that is an injury or age minimize the effectiveness of a mobile quarterback. If he can’t be a passing threat without the mobility threat than what do you really have left?

I am focused on Super Bowl ready 2025. Beyond that, who knows For Fields or anybody. The window is now for me.
