If Fields stays and the team makes those changes then he HAS to show he's the guy we hoped he would be - 2024 season. It doesn't have to be a perfect team by any means.
Thank you, JABF
He got a new OT, a new #1 WR, and a top-10 TE this year.
Get him a new C, a 2nd stud WR, and a new playcaller and if Fields can't at least match Jordan Love in 2024, it's all over for us fellas. You may as well pack up and live in a cave for the next 15 years cuz we are gonna get owned by GB once again for a 3rd straight QB career span.
If you are sticking with Fields, in effect you are betting he can catch and hopefully surpass Love's current trajectory very quickly. That's what this comes down to. And he's well behind Love right now so he's got a lotta ground to make up even as Love continues to improve.
Yeah, that describes it exactly how I feel about Fields at this point. If he comes back, it is showtime. Show us you can be the guy we fans have (patiently) hoped that you would be.
My argument if you want to keep Fields isn't that I believe he's going to improve. My argument is that keeping Fields + a moderate trade down gives you two blue chip first rounders this draft and potentially two first rounders next draft. If Fields doesn't show improvement (with a new OC and New QB coach plus multiple draft picks and FA added to the OFF), than you have two draft picks next draft to find your QB. I believe you know who a QB is after two full season. Fields has had three.
No matter what the Bears do, they won't do it optimally. I know this.
The question was “What’s the difference?” The Bears beat Lions and have lost to teams with losing record. Your “answer” explains nothing,
We beat two playoff teams in the last 2 years and one of them was a fluke game against the 49ers.
We can only compete against trash teams.
That’s true, obviously! But I am asking you to think about WHY Fields passing yards are lower against playoff teams. They put more pass rush pressure on him. They have Pro Bowl DBs to cover our one WR reliable receiver. Their offense scores and has Fields playing from behind on the scoreboard. All these things — and more— are outside Fields control. The Bears TEAM needs to improve in all these things to be Super Bowl ready by 2025.
Only Super Bowl ready teams have winning records against other playoff teams. That’s the difference between the playoff pretenders and the contenders.
Rumor is (my phone blowing up) is that Getsy is out and Flus is staying.
I hate it and can already foresee a lot of problems.
As Brasil said, Bears never do things optimally. Classic King Solomon cutting the baby in two.
Eberflus has Poles to cover his ass with Warren and MCCaskey. Poles loves Eberflus. That’s the core problem here.
I was thinking about this. Poles is very possibly staking his career on this. He has skin in this game and if he fails and gets fired he probably will never get another GM opportunity again. Fired GMs usually don't get a second bite of the apple. There is zero chance that Poles sticks his neck out for Eberflus unless he believes he can stake his career on it.

Hoge just talked about this on YouTube. He says Poles honestly believes Eberflus is a great coach, saying “Ploles has visions of Eberflus being carried off the field next year after winning the Super Bowl in New Orleans.” McCaskey or Warren would have to fire Flus over Poles’ dead body, and that’s not how things go in Halas Hall with all their value on “collaboration.”
Hoge also made a good point that the coaches Eberflus hired — DC, OC, RB coaches, TE coach, QB coach, WR coach have now ALL been fired and yet Eberflus STAYS. Throw all the coaching staff under the bus, while Poles defends Eberflus in his conference with Warren.
Somebody on the same show said Poles should have fired Getsy after the third game when Fields did his press conference and said coaching is a problem.

No way of knowing what happened, but if the reason they kept Flus is because of Poles, then they are both out if Flus fails again.
