Did you watch the damn game? Bears were missing two starters on the OL, and the OL was a mess. I don’t care how you explain it, it’s a fact about this game and had a huge impact on Fields and Getsy’s play calling. The Bears OL is better than this, but they weren’t on Sunday.
The same excuses... Blame Oline, WR, TE, RB and etc...
Just one week earlier Fields didn’t throw 16 passes. He threw 30 passes, 268 yards, TD, no interceptions. What’s the difference? You tell me.
Well, you keep blaming the same guy over and over. Everybody has their opinion, it's just that theirs are different than yours, and that's cool.
Heard the same shit with all our QBs before...
The problem is that the franchise HAS made these same mistakes before. Same issues. Just different year. It's like that "Groundhog Day" movie where you have to relive it all over again forever.
LOL, to be "Super Bowl ready" by 2025, Fields would have to nearly DOUBLE his average season passing yardage.
If you really want a SB-caliber QB, 4000 yards passing is a reasonable benchmark. Hurts got there last yr with about 3700 and a great defense. Most are >4000.
I think you are wasting your time with Fields. He's the 4th best QB in the DIVISION right now. And you think he's gonna be a top-3 QB in the CONFERENCE after one more season?
Good luck with that
You and motm are totally preoccupied with Fields passing yards. Points and defense is what wins games. With JABF’s good center, the Bears can again lead the NFL in rushing with about 2800 to 3000 yards. As butkus and I keep telling motm (and he keeps ignoring), Fields would have been over 3000 yards if he played 17 games. Add Harrison, Nabers/Odunze, and a decent slot receiver plus an OC who plays to the strengths of this WR group, Fields will be 3500+ and when you add the rushing yards, we are at 6000+ total offense. That gets us top-5 in total offense and 29+ ppg. That’s a Super Bowl ready offense in 2025. If I didn’t believe that, I’d roll the dice with a rookie QB.
You are living in a fantasy land.
Fields isn't running for 1100 again. Teams saw it and have adapted. The Miami game was fun to watch but in the past. So where are these other 2500 rushing yards coming from? And I thought you just said yards weren't important?
Yes, I know Fields could have thrown for 3000. He could have but he didn't. He still hasn't and that's a very low bar. With his play style and sacks do you really think he's gonna play 17 games ever? I'm amazed he gets thru any season with the kind of hits he takes.
I want to hear it from you and Butkus right now. If they stick with Fields and acquire MHJ and whatever else they get in FA and the draft, there won't be any more excuses for the QB next year, right?
Love just threw for 4000 yards and 31 TDs in his first year as a starter, so Justin ought to be able to do that next year as well, right?

The Bears virtually tied the 49ers THIS season for the NFL rushing title without Fields for 4 games and without JABF’s center. That’s 2400, so it can easily go higher next year with Fields missing fewer games plus a center and a competent OC. Again, if Fields just throws for 3500+ with Harrison, etc. added to the offense, we’re at 6000+ total yards without Fields throwing 4000. That is top-5 in the league and 29+ ppg. I will keep repeating that until it hopefully sinks in. Eagles went to Super Bowl with Hurts at 3700.
i already told you that 2025 Super Bowl ready is my standard for both Poles and Fields. That’s it. I don’t care about passing yards. Scoring offense is much more relevant statistic.

In fairness QBs drop like flies even if they are pocket passers now. A month ago the league had lost 16 starting QBs to injuries by then, and like 7 had landed on IR (LINK). I agree with the point about not wanting a QB1 doing anything extra to risk serious injury. And I think Fields was doing better at sliding and not taking quite as much punishment later in the season. And no question he holds onto the ball too long and needlessly pays a physical price for that. But some of the punishment is just due to the position he plays.
