Kreutz says the OL fell apart in this game because the center is the signal caller who sets the signals, and Bears were playing with a 3rd string center.
The OL Center is the heart and soul of the IOL. We went into this season with two failing centers. Whitehair is mere shadow of his former self and Patrick is a backup quality C. The Bears failure to fix that position with a high-quality player has hurt the unit this year. The only guy who came to play in the Green Bay game was Wright - and he wasn't great... just decent. The other guys on the OL were a living nightmare to watch. And I don't get it with Jenkins in that game. It was a really bad look for him. Looked like he was mailing it in to me.
To me, the clue was that the run blocking was poor. They all looked disorganized.

What is the possibility that he could not hear or communicate with the C?

I'm not sure, BIH, what you mean there? Like crowd noise?

Yes. That's what I had in mind, but it could also be crossed signals or not in time processing by a replacement C. Or honestly, it could just be a shit game by Jenkins but it would be uncharacteristic for him to play THAT bad

He apologized on X to the Bears fans today about his poor play. Nice to see and I can appreciate his taking responsibility for it.

Well, his poor play was hard to hide. I was just wondering if there was a reason. Maybe nothing more than he just sucked that day

LOL, I thought to myself, "I wonder if our dudes are deaf too... just one other crap thing to have happened to us this year"... and maybe we should write Larry Mayer suggesting the Bears give Caleb a hearing test before we draft him.
What about offering Bengals a draft pick for Jake Browning and going into camp with Fields/Browning fighting it out? In this scenario, I'd trade down from #1 to make sure I get ether WR1 or WR2, potentially add another first rounder next year and recover the pick sent for Browning. Use the Bears pick for best OL/DL blue chip prospect, add C in the second.....
I know its not Madden, just trying to have a conversation other than Harbaugh today.
ok, I know everyone talks about Caleb, but as far as a pure passer, Michael Pinex looks really good to me.
Butkus, you got any inside info on this kid? He has a hell of a line he plays behind but seems successful thoughout his career. Do his injuries worry you?
