Point well-taken. Whatever they end up doing I just hope it's the right move.
Me too. We need football management making football decisions, not ownership…
I think ownership lets them do what they want...its just the people that have been in those positions in the past who have been the problem. I like where Poles has this team heading though, so I trust him thus far.

Agree. I like what Poles has done as well with the exception of Flus which, I believe, was probably pushed on him. Has he made some player failures, yes for sure with Claypool and some other questionable decisions. But he seems to have a plan and is working it. For a young GM, he’s very well grounded in his approach.

Yeah, every GM is going to have misses with players. Even the best have some massive screw ups.

Regarding the secondary - Hear me out. Resign Johnson, start Smith at CB2, keep Gordon at Nickel and....... move Stevenson to FS opposite Brisker. We dump Eddie Jackson and his contract to save some money. The secondary now consists of one highly paid player and 3 rookie contracts. I know usually CB's make the move to safety later in their career after they have lost a step but why not earlier? My eye test shows me that Stevenson's struggles are more in man than zone coverage and tackling. I'm not sure if PFF has separate grades for zone vs man but I like the idea. If Smith is the better corner, then he should start regardless of draft position. Saying that, I don't think Stevenson is a bust and l'd hate to give up on a 2nd round pick. Maybe bring in a cheap, veteran safety to compete with Stevenson in the offseason at safety in case the experiment fails.
