The defense did everything to gift-wrap the win for the offense... who just had nothing to contribute. Again. The defense time and time again positioned our offense to score (even scoring a TD themselves) but this offense is so very very bad. It has been for years now.
I'm so fkn tired of watching amateurish coaching, playcalling, and offense.

The years roll by... the GM's and the coaches change, but this has pretty much been our situation (most years) for the past 30+ years here in Chicago. I think the ultimate tragedy was drafting a QB1 who "could have been" a solid franchise quarterback here for years to come. But the Bears had no clue as to how to support him, develop him - and win with him. I think that if the Bears had provided the coaching and support for an offense to thrive here, that Justin Fields would have been a good one for us. I will always believe that. It breaks my heart to have watched the failures on all levels with this offense. It's our annual ritual here in Chicago. The GMs and coaches change but the failures on offense never do... heartbreaking stuff for sure.
EDIT: What we witnessed yesterday with the pitiful offense was pretty much the "poster boy" game showcasing 30 years of woes here on offense. This is what the franchise provided their fanbase each year. Yeah, it's pretty hard to stomach.

A question for you. After three years, do you think JF is a better QB than, for example, Cutler? Think about it for a while, compare stats, wins, coaching stuff, supporting cast...

As much as people despised Cutler, he was and remains the best QB the bears have had except for Sid Luckman. How sad is that?

Not gonna lie, day we traded was one of the happiest I remember as Bears fan. Thats sad. Fav trades: Cutler, Peppers, Mack, Moore
I gave the deflated ball to Justin. I see people blaming the play calling, but what is Getsy supposed to call? Justin can't execute the plays because he is not able to process the field. Flacco had 3 interceptions and still finished with a better rating. I also see calls for Flus to get fired. I'm on the fence with that one. The defense has been playing lights out since Eberflus started play calling. Our defense is getting real good, and they're young. Mooney gets criticism, but he proved he could contribute when Bagent started. Mooney, the running backs, and Kmet all started producing under Bagent, and the ball moved downfield. Compare Justin at year 3 to Bagent with a mere 4 starts. I think it's Justin holding the team back. I would have liked it if we traded him for o-line at the deadline, but hey. IMO, Justin has had enough time to show that he can make reads, and he can't. I think Bagent showed more progress in 4 games. Justin has had years.

I'm going to wait till I watch the All 22 and give my vote, but from just viewing the game my vote is for the offense, and especially Getsy. This playcalling was awful, and generally has been awful. Took 8 plays and 86 penalties to score from the 1 and even that took a crazy play from Fields to make happen...just scared coaching IMO. I'm eager to watch the All 22 and see ALL these supposedly open receivers that Fields was supposed to hit in the ridiculously clean pockets he had all game...I'll let you all know what I see.

He had no clean pocket. He did have a couple of wide open WRs though. But, after Teven went down we were pretty much doomed.

We will never know what could-have-been had Fields had a Shanahan-level OC and a better supporting cast. I will grant you that. No question JF didn't have the optimal setup.
But............at some point the sand in the hourglass runs low and it's put-up-or-shut-up time. He has had 35 starts now.
JABF, can you name me 10 high-quality games he's put up in those 35? How many clutch 4th Q drives has he produced? How many great stat lines has he had? How many good QBs has he faced and defeated?
I have gone back-and-forth on him a dozen times myself but at some point, like NOW, you have to fish or cut bait. He will always have defenders and those people will never ever ever run out of excuses. I guarantee you that. I remember the same thing happened with Cutler and with Mitch. Cutler went to Miami for a year and still sucked and still threw picks left and right. Mitch went to Pittsburg where he's continued to be so bad he's about to be benched for the 4th time in his career.
If you have to squint to see it, "it" is not there. I don't see it with Justin. If they get Harbaugh and he disagrees, great. I trust his judgement.
Otherwise, it's time to move on. Justin is not going to be a franchise QB. His ceiling is low-mid range starter. You can't pay him $40-50m/yr hoping he can run for 1000 yards again.
