I've got to believe they have some kind of agreement with him and his agent already... unless they are total idiots.
no doubt before they made the trade official w/DC they got permission to check w/the agent to make sure a deal could get done. this type of trade isn't uncommon, and i cannot think of any instance where the player w/out another year on the contract gets traded and doesn't get extended.

Exactly. I'm saying the same thing here.
Interestingly next year Chase i don't think is going to get extended. The 49ers just spent a third on 8 games regular season + playoffs. But they are in a position to do that.

+1,000 And that was going to be one of my points too. They are in a win now mode and can do a rental for the rest of the season as they push for a deep playoff run or even a SB win. Push all the chips in the pot for that scenario. Bears have longer term needs here.

Yeah let Poles cook. Well what the bloody hail is he cooking up? Because so far it smells like my secondary schools food and it tasted like donkey crap.

This is Pace level shit to keep his job. Ryan, your Clown College diploma is waiting to be picked up.

If that's the case ya, he can go w/Flus. No reason to make this move w/out some basic frameworks on the extension.
And it's a negative mark against Warren for allowing him to trade away a pick on a guy that will be a rental in a lost season.

If true, this is inexcusably bad by Poles. These type of trades always include either a contract extension already worked out or an "understanding" between the parties that just needs to be put on paper.
As far as the other side, the only argument i like against the move is that that 2nd rounder would come with a much much much smaller contract than Sweat is going to get.
On the Score they were talking about how the Bears have given Sweat a lot of power to get overpaid now. Sweat is only under contract for 9 more games, unless the Bears are willing to deal with this as just a 9-game signing and/or franchise tag to prolong it temporarily. They were saying it would have made better sense if the Bears had a deal in place here for a long term contract. Without that leverage, Sweat gains a LOT of leverage over the Bears now. Otherwise that (very high) 2nd round pick could have brought in a guy on a rookie contract deal.
What? No way. The winning culture and great coaching the Bears have developed over the past two years makes this team a desireable destination for any player. He will take what we offer with no complaints.

If true, you fire Poles. Trading the #35 overall pick for an 8 game rental....
