This has to be the most deflating season I can recall in quite a while. I honestly didn't expect things to be anywhere near this bad. Other than the running backs and Cairo Santos, I'm struggling to find anything positive to hang on to here...and that includes players, coaches, and front office.
It's truly nauseating to watch this team fail over and over and over and to do so so uncompetitively. How many times have we as fans KNOWN the game was all but over by the early 3rd quarter if not even earlier? I joked in August about being still relevant at Halloween never anticipating that, once again, we would be completely irrelevant by Halloween yet again this year. We have a ridiculously soft schedule this year and still are completely irrelevant once again before the leaves have fallen off the trees.
All I have left is this:
If Fields can somehow play well enough the last 8 games to justify the 5th year option, then you can use 2 1st rounders (likely HIGH first rounders) to add MHJr plus another stud prospect (LT?). You gotta fire these clown college coaches and bring in someone who can work collaboratively and constructively with a young QB. Maybe, just maybe, you can turn this train wreck around quickly in 2024-25.
Yeah, I know there's a lot of "ifs" there and I know I'm grasping at straws.
But that's all I got.
I'm out of ideas and out of hope otherwise.
Everything else is complete poo. We are looking at another reset, with a new QB, and years more to get things moving in a positive direction otherwise. Sorry, but it's pretty bleak at this point.
