I put other again because it was a combination IMO. Fields and Getsy were both bad. Fields was back to holding onto the ball forever and not playing good he did last few weeks, and Getsy didn't help much with not giving the OL help and just odd play calls. Ultimately I think we are if it is Fields or Getsy next few weeks if Fields is out for awhile.
Bagent played decent outside of his turnovers. The int he didn't step into the throw because pocket collapsed and the fumble he got a taste of NFL speed. Let's see what happens next week.
Also for the love of all that is holy no more WR screes.
Do we know how long Fields is gonna be out? Is Bagent gonna start against LV?
Can't disagree with anything you said. I'll come back to that later. Everything I'm saying here is stuff I said in the shoutbox during the game so sorry for the repeats there.
I voted Getsy cuz that was on the menu of choices. Getsy blows, let's not kid ourselves. He had 3rd and 1 on the Vikes 25 near the end of the first half in a tie game and instead of running the ball from under center (TWICE if needed), he calls a shotgun pass. Which of course gets tipped cuz Minny is blitzing like crazy and ends up being picked leading to a 14 point swing. This guy is a clown school OC who constantly goes away from what is working in favor of what isn't.
But Ric is right on Fields as well. I saw him twice on 3rd and long at midfield pat the ball 4 times with plenty of time and run into an unnecessary sack. Dude, wtf is your problem? If nothing is there short to get the 1st down, you chuck it deep! Throw the goddam ball to the 10 yard line for cripes sake! Worst outcome is a pick which is as good as a punt. You might complete the pass or draw a DPI call. Throw the f*****g ball! I don't care if your guy is triple-teamed--throw the ball!!!!
He's not a rookie anymore. This is year 3. This is basic football tactics any 3rd year QB should know by heart by now. He's just inexcusably bad at times and those bad times are inexcusably too often.
Fields was right back to his old habits of holding it way too long, not recognizing what he's seeing, and being way too slow and indecisive. If Justin needs an OL giving him 5 seconds every dropback, he's never gonna be a quality NFL passer. That's just not realistic and Fields clock is just way too slow.
I'm giving up on him. I'm done. PJ Walker scored more points than Fields did today. Watching Cards as I type this and Josh Dobbs is way outplaying him. I have never once in 2.5 seasons seen Fields lead a must-have-it drive in the 4th Q to win or even tie the game. He melts every time, usually with a pick or sack fumble. The only times I have seen JF "ball out" are when its meaningless or expectations are low. Every time he's been asked to step up and win an important game, he wilts. I think we have seen the last of him as the Bears starter now that he's injured. His last meaningful start anyway.
I'm not gonna waste my time here arguing about Getsy vs. Fields and who owns what % of the failure. You guys can debate that back and forth if you want. To me, they BOTH have failed and they both need to go. They both had a mission and set of objectives this season and both have fallen miserably short of what was expected of them. I'm not gonna make excuses for either nor dissect out the fine details. Both need to be replaced.
BTW, lets see if Kevin Warren has any real authority and has any balls now. Any of the other 31 NFL teams would fire their coaching staff in this situation. 2nd year, massively underperforming (keep in mind we have played only 1 good team in 6 games), and you start 1-5 with the team constantly looking unprepared and outcoached.
Fire them both (F/G) tomorrow to send a message and hire an interim staff cuz you're tanking anyway here on out.
But they won't. The Bears organization is allergic to bold moves like that that smack of accountability. To lose like that at home after a mini-bye against a divisional opponent where the only TD you score is on a sneak by a backup QB is a fire-able offense right there.
Grow some balls, Mr. Warren, and send a message that there's a new boss in town and you're not gonna tolerate this level of incompetence.
PLEASE
Don't mistake what I said as a defense of Getsy, it feels like he was secretly paid by GB to come here and tank the Bears. I have no idea what his plan is, other than to make the O look bad.
Fields is like the worse of Cutler and Trubisky combined. Throws bad ints or sack fumbles at the worse possible times, like Cutler, while also not being able to see the field, pre read a def like Trubisky.
I don't think they fire anyone tomorrow b/c there is no DC/OC or any positional coaches that deserve a promotion. And there are no coaches sitting on the sidelines currently that you'd want to come in here and straighten the ship. Not to say they don't deserve it, but it doesn't help. I'm not even sure they'll fire them at the end of the year for the same reason. This goes back to Pace/Nagy, who btw were better then Poles/Flus, but you can in fact do worse. Make sure there is a plan in place to fix this.
The entire O is a mess, and it's a mess b/c Poles (imo) got the job b/c he was willing to hire Flus; who the Mc's wanted. Neither is showing anything that shows they should have been hired. But Poles needs to be allowed to grow as a GM, just like Flus needs to be allowed to grow as a HC. Or you need to have a plan in place that allows you to bring in an experienced GM and HC that you know they will straighten the ship.
Oh I'm fully aware they won't fire anybody. That would require a sense of accountability which the Bears organization clearly lacks.
But they should fire them. Promote the ST Coordinator (forgot his name) or bring in an outside placeholder as interim. I don't care and it doesn't matter. This season is in the tank and you're done with Fields anyway -- he's not the guy and you're not gonna pay him.
There's no way Flus/Co. survives Black Monday anyway so what's the difference? You want these guys around here next year to **** up a new QB?
I'd keep Poles (whom I agree was probably influenced to take Flus), get an OFFENSIVE HC, draft a new QB, and start fresh.

There is a difference between what should be done, theoretically, and what should be done responsibly. You don't fire a staff that has shown zero ability and promote a position coach from the same staff. And no person worth bringing in mid season is going to be worth keeping at the end of the season, both sides will know that, and therefore no coach would do it.
Ya you said that about Poles/Nagy; how'd that work for you? There has to be a plan going forward, and by tearing it all down, regardless of if it's deserved, you are starting the process all over, again. How's that worked out in the past? If there is a clear path forward, ya you fire everyone. If there isn't(again see Pace/Nagy) then you don't. Poles was not a better GM option then Keeping Pace, and Flus is at best equal to Nagy, and in reality way way worse.
When you constantly hire people w/no experience and give them 2-4 years to produce, you get what the Bears are, a mess and in constant rebuild.

Those are all good points. Fans want to boil this all down to "fire everyone" and draft more QBs - as if THAT solves every issue and problem. It doesn't. It hasn't. The problems are still there.

This staff isn't coming back next year. I'm willing right now to wager a lot of money on that. They will be fired, its only a matter of January or sooner than January. It would take 6-5 the rest of the year to maybe save them and LOL there's no fricken way this team is winning 6 more games.
Yeah, If I'm Kevin Warren, I'm laying down the law and making a statement that I'm in charge now and things aren't gonna be done the same way they always have been. How's that been working out?
It doesn't matter who takes over as interim. Doesn't matter in the least. Going 2-9 the rest of the way is fine by me. Promote the STC. Who cares?
Flus was a defensive coach brought in to develop a young QB he wasn't even involved in drafting--how the hell does that make any sense? You yourself said ownership pushed Flus on Poles and he agreed in order to get the GM job--does that sound like a winning hand you want to run with?
As for Pace/Nagy (I assume you meant Pace), you can't be serious if you're saying those two weren't due (OVERDUE IMO) to be fired. Nagy couldn't adjust anything he did and Pace whiffed on 2 FRP QBs he traded up for. Those clown should have been canned a full year before they were.
Which brings me to the "plan" you mentioned. My plan is the same plan I was screaming for here after the 2021 debacle season when Pace/Nagy should have been canned: GET AN OFFENSIVE HC WITH A TRACK RECORD FOR DEVELOPING QBs AND TIE HIM TO A NEW DRAFTED QB.
If you want to fire Poles too, fine by me. I'm ambivalent on that one. Whoever holds the ceremonial title of "Bears head coach" the rest o this season is immaterial. In fact, if he's not good, which he won't be, it only aids the tank.
Lions OC Kellen Moore Bienemy
Those are guys I'd be looking at for 2024. Kevin Warren's job.

The way he was grabbing his wrist running off the field I'm pretty sure he'll be missing some games.

You can’t fire McCaskey and his “committee “.
You are the guy who said you need to see SIGNIFICANT improvement this season. Are you seeing it?

For the 788th time, no one is saying hire a new HC, draft a new QB and VOILA EVERYTHING IS FINE. For the 789th time now, no one is saying that. Can we drop that now?
But you have to do those things regardless.
Fields isn't the guy and you're gonna have high picks in this coming draft. You MUST DRAFT A QB. Without fail. Zero exceptions.
As for the coaching staff, one of those problems you talk about is that this franchise always misaligns its key players. They did that when they forced Fox onto Pace and Trubisky onto Nagy and Fields onto Flus/Getsy.
Can we not do that again please? Just once, can we please get the GM, the coaching staff, and the QB all on the same page?
