You know, they do make some good points here. I don't know if they can turn the season around, but at least there should be better football ahead. Not saying anything great will happen, but I could see the team settle down now and play better. We have 12 games left. I could definitely see the team winning 5 or 6 of those games and I could see Fields making significant strides with his own game, now that Getsy seems willing to let the guy play to his strengths.

By far, most important thing is for Fields to continue to ascend and establish himself as the guy of the future.
He was bottom-5 in the league first 3 weeks until Getsy changed things up and since he's caught fire last 2 games. Next 11 are gonna determine his long-term future. If JF1 can continue improving like he has lately, Bears are in the drivers seat heading into 2024.
We are gonna have draft capital and cap space to beat the band. I'm already salivating over trading the #1 overall pick (from Carolina) to Vegas for Crosby + picks and then drafting MHJ.

And I could see one other way this COULD play out. If Fields can significantly improve, but the Bears decide to draft a QB (that could be one way this ends up) then at least the Bears should be able to trade Fields for a decent return. If Eberflus is fired at the end of the season, the new HC would then be able to have input on his QB who will be drafted.
Plan-A is definitely Fields proving to be the guy. But the team can still have a decent Plan-B if Fields improves quite a bit this season. We should have the remaining draft power to upgrade the offense significantly, even if we do draft a QB. A top-tier C is not that hard to get, right? We would still have a 1st (high first) round draft pick to use - and overall we have 10 draft picks that will be very high each round of the entire draft. We just need the GM to prioritize the offense next draft. The resources are there. Just use them.

I feel like we have done this over and over again lol.
Give me a solid 2nd tier and I will be happy.
By the way......Top Tier C? Is this like a 3rd tier type situation or perhaps I am not understanding and if that's it. Forget what I type hahaha.

Most years a great C can be drafted in round 2. Maybe I'm wrong on that, but it sure seems like centers can be had there who are rock solid players. A good C would anchor that interior OL for many many years to come. I figure it's worth a 2nd round pick to get that kind of player.

Way too early to worry about it now, but yeah Carolina looks awful and Bryce Young is struggling. That Carolina pick is gonna be top-5 almost for sure and has a good shot to become #1 overall, especially with the other teams in the NFCS looking better than anticipated.
If Fields can establish himself as a top-10 QB and rising star the next 11 games, we are in the catbird's seat. That #1 pick is going to command a king's ransom this year due to Caleb Williams. We will easily fleece some team in trade--picks plus a player again.

I agree with all of that. It's like the Bears franchise is at a major fork in the road. The "Fields is good" fork is a great one. If "Fields isn't good" then it's a setback. And I'm wondering how the 2024 coaching staff fits in with all of this?

Okay, I will take a sip of the kool-aid in hopes my 7-10 wins and 27ppg prediction happens. It is based on the idea that the offense can carry the defense in some of these games and Fields will play like Hurts did last year.
I also predict it begins with beating the Vikings. I am fairly confident the Bears will win this one, especially if Jefferson is out.

Coaching staff is a wildcard right now. Next 11 games will be crucial to them.
On one hand, Getsy and Fields reportedly have a good working relationship and, to his credit, Getsy has shown the ability to shift and adjust in a way Nagy never could or would.
OTOH, two straight seasons the offense and Fields have started really slow which necessitated those shifts. Can't be starting 1-3 next year if you're serious about being a playoff team. Flus and Getsy need to have their shit together better in the PRESEASON so they aren't caught flat-footed again.
I understand why you might not want to change Fields' OC and have him learn a new scheme again but these guys gotta get better too.
