Bears Tell Chase Claypool They're Done. Want a 5th or 6th DP

I defended this guy from the trade, and damn was I wrong. Never knew his work ethic was that bad, and when he admitted he didn't know the playbook, that was a holy crap moment for me. Now we play the what could've been on the draft pick, but I also understand why Poles tried to get Fields help. Just turned out to be bad help.

That's an important point that hasn't been mentioned in awhile here.  Constant turnover is (I think) what killed the Detroit Lions for so many many many years.  I know that some folks didn't like the Dan Campbell hire there.  But at some point you just gotta have some stability at GM and HC.  But of course it's one of those "chicken and the egg" things, where you think the coaches or GM has to go so you fire them - or - do you continue on with guys you suspect can't get it done?  It's a damned if you do and damned if you don't type thing.  

It all goes back to having the exec in charge who can hire a good GM and HC to begin with.  

I think our only hope is that Warren is a Jim Finks type of executive who can finally fix it all here.  Papa Bear turned everything over to Finks.  It was the first time he'd done that since he bought the team in 1920.  Finks was the first "non family" guy who was given a lot of power to run the franchise.  But of course the family killed that when they butted in and hired Ditka without even telling Finks... they just did it and crammed Ditka down Finks throat... that move was a horrible move by the family. 

I find that ironic because Ditka was not a good coach. 

Not really.  He benefited by having the immense talent that Finks had brought to the team.  A good coach would have won more than one Super Bowl with that talent.  Ditka couldn't... ultimately he lost the locker room in '87... the players who won the Super Bowl pretty much hated Ditka (LINK).  The team under-performed the talent they had in the post 1985 years... Eventually the Bears fired Ditka and he went to New Orleans - who didn't have the Finks talented roster - where he totally crapped the bed.  He was about as bad a coach as you can have.  Anyway, it sure would be sweet to have Warren prove to be a solid exec here.  I see it as our only hope for change.  Real change, anyway.

On a side note.  Finks is in the Vikings "Ring of Honor" for what he did for that franchise (he was incredible there).  He is also in the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame - he did a lot for that franchise when it had never had a winning season in it's 19 year history.  Finks turned that around (this was before Ditka came there and crapped the bed).  But I have never heard the McCaskey's once give any credit to Jim Finks... never did squat to acknowledge Jim Finks building the foundation of those 1980's teams.  Pretty sad.  Of course Finks is in the NFL Hall of Fame as a great executive, all the same.  LOL, I know, I'm rambling today :-)

Ya that's why I talked about Carter. in Philly. It works b/c he has vets that have done it at a high level and he'll have to listen to and respect, same as coaches. Who's here in Chicago that can keep a player w/work ethic issues in line (Per his college coaches)? No one, not one defender that is on this team is in a position to demand respect, and the coaches are a joke. 

They couldn't keep Claypool in line enough to learn the playbook, Carter picked in the top 10 has infinitely more security regardless of his faults then Chase ever did.

Your prediction has nothing to do w/reality, or what he would be on a team that is not Philly. So for me it doesn't matter, nor does it matter to really anyone outside of yourself. It doesn't matter to Chicago, or their current roster, and it doesn't matter to Philly.
