Eberflus said the reason Claypool was not at the stadium today was that he was given the choice to stay home today. However, a representative of the Bears later said that is not true, and he was ordered to stay home but report to practice on Monday. This is beyond ridiculous.
I saw that too. Fields said he wants Claypool playing. So I wonder how this will end.
Fields is going to support his teammates, he showed more trust in how he threw the ball today then he has all year. Actiojs speak to he was fine without him there

Fields should not be supporting Claypool. He should keep his mouth shut and let management handle the problem. As a team leader, he needs to hold Claypool accountable for his conduct without criticizing him publicly. It’s a fine line.

Not how a QB or a team is going to react. This is real life team issues and relationships, not some theory class at the ivory tower.
Someone asks someone a question about your teammate your job is to support them. Urlacher and other supported Orton even after being traded saying Cutler better be damn good. That is how good teammates act.

I said “should.” It is counter-productive to team’s best interests to support a guy at all costs. It undermines the standards that management is trying to establish and enforce.
However, Fields should talk privately to Claypool about this, and not criticize a teammate in a press conference.

doesn't matter, should, could, would. It's not based in reality. Again ivory tower theory doesn't work in the real world, so leave it in fantasy land.

+1 I totally agree, Ric. If you want to be the leader (and the QB should be) then you support your guys. Fields knows Claypool is a goner, soon now. And Fields will be fine with that. But he has to be seen as supportive of the guys in that locker room - or he will lose them. That's just how it works - as you say, "in real life."

The “shoulds” are real in their consequences. You should not get drunk and drive your car 125 mph. That is a should “based in reality.” In reality, people nonetheless do it. Likewise, in reality, Fields will support Claypool, but it does have consequences that matter. So does the Eberflus statement that Claypool CHOSE to stay home Sunday. He should not have said that. Players are taking note of what Fields and Eberflus are saying about Claypool.

Yep you support your teammates. You really think Urlacher didn't know who Cutler was, or how good he was going to be? He supported his qb, and when Cutler was on the team, he supported him. That's how teammates work.

What consequences are coming from Fields supporting him? None, stop your nonsense. Fields supporting his teammate has nothing to do w/drinking and driving; oddly enough you support a guy that did that and wish he was on the team though. Funny much like Claypool wrong time for that comment.
And Flus was countered by another person that clarified he was TOLD to stay home.
