La Canfora: Rumor Warren may fire every one including Poles

50% coaching staff
25% Fields
25% Poles

When a GM brings in players and they don't live up to expectations, do you blame the GM for getting the wrong players or the coaching staff for getting so little out of them?

It's probably a bit of both but I put a lot of responsibility on the coaches as Butkus said.  Put aside the entire offense for a moment.  Flus was billed as a successful defensive coach.  The defense is HORRIBLE.  No way it should be this bad.  Bears hardly have elite talent but they have enough to be not be #31 in the NFL.  Even Tremaine Edmunds looks lost and he's a bonafide stud.  No defensive starter has forced a takeaway and the team combines gas only 1 sack.

I would add that Flus's choices for his subordinates don't exactly inspire any confidence either.  His DC had to resign for what sounds like workplace misconduct.  His training staff has overseen a huge number of soft tissue pulls and strains.  And then there's Getsy.  His job was turn the pass O around and help Fields improve and that hasn't happened one bit.  This staff has lost 13 straight games.  

I put a big chunk of blame on Fields too.  Dude, you can't be sucking this bad in year3 and claim its all coaching.  You clearly look lost out there.  No more excuses.  You're not the only young QB who's ever been asked to help turn around a struggling team.  I can name plenty of others so drop the martyr act.

As I said above, Poles has definitely had his share of misses too.  I think he's more likely to survive as he's only in his 2nd year with 2022 being a tank job. But if Warren cans him, I won't shed a tear.  

When a team loses 13 straight and continues to look like ass on and off the field, the stink of that gets in everyone's clothes.  NOBODY LOOKS GOOD.   

If I had to guess right now, I'd say Flus, Getsy, and Fields are not here next year but Poles is.  If Poles gets shown the door too, fine by me.

I'm gonna eat some humble pie here and tip my cap to you.  No one thought JF would meltdown this bad and we would be looking at another QB reboot.  And I'm referring only to ON FIELD stuff here since it can go off the rails off-field later, but you were right about Carter.  

Since Fields doesn't appear to be the long-term answer, I wish we had taken Carter.

I just checked up on CJ Stroud.  He has 906 passes without an interception. He’s already playing better than Fields after 3 games.  Poles had the chance to draft him but decided to continue with Fields.  If we don’t get #1 pick in the draft, we are left again trusting Poles to evaluate quarterbacks.

Eberflus had a good 5-yr. track record with the Colts.  He had some good players on that roster.  He hasn’t forgotten how to coach. The problem is that Poles got rid of the entire front-7 and — with few exceptions  — replaced them with inferior players.  

Still remember the S&C coach for Lovie saying that those issues were about the player not doing what he had prescribed for eating and hydration, specifically hydration. Either this crew isn't getting them ready(how can you be dehydrated in the first qtr even in FL?) or they aren't listening to them.
