Bucs beat Bears - who gets the deflated ball?

Lotta straw man arguments going on.  Fields clearly is to blame.  Why does this discussion always devolve into: "he needs more weapons" or "his OC isn't good".  Guys, Fields is a BITTER DISAPPOINTMENT right now.  He looks no more comfortable, decisive, or quicker than he was a rookie.  Sorry, that's ON HIM.  This is is 2nd year in this scheme and, even if not ideally suited for him, he needs to be way better than a bottom-5 QB which is what he is right now. He's a truly awful passer at this point and its only a matter of time before he gets hurt as he runs into sacks over and over with his poor pocket presence, slow mental clock, and inability to just throw the ball away.  He already has 5 TOs, including 2 pick-6s.  

Drafting a new QB (which is looking more and more inevitable), does NOT mean:
--you don't look at anything else, coaching included
--you don't keep trying to upgrade your OL and playmakers
--adding a new QB magically makes everything hunky-dory

It means that the guy you have isn't gonna be the guy and, since it often takes awhile to develop a new guy, you better get that process started and not squander more seasons with a QB you know has failed.

Are we clear on that now?  That all it means.  It's just time to move on at the most important position in the game.

Bears have to make a decision on Fields' 5-year option this coming May.  Based on what we have seen thus far, are you buying or passing?

I think we all know the answer.

That's my thinking too. There are a number of moving parts to evaluate after this season ends. Sure, replace the QB if Fields can't get it done (and it sure is looking like he can't get it done). But, the Bears also need to look at everything and not just the QB. And if you let Eberflus to pick his new QB in 2024 (he sure should have a lot of input) then you'd probably be married to 'Flus for a few years to prove he can get it done with a new QB. And I am 100% okay with that if they feel confident in Eberflus to get us where we need to go. But if they are not sold on Eberflus as "The Guy" after this season - then bring in the new guy so HE can get the guy he feels he needs to win here. This dumping a previous coaches QB on the new HC isn't ideal. We have experienced that here. Not saying fire 'Flus. Not making excuses for Fields. Just saying that Warren needs to do a hard eval on everybody. If a piece is rotten then get rid of it and replace it. Don't wait and do the long tortured death by paper cuts thing.

Poles will get a second chance to hire an HC if Eberflus is fired (and not saying he will be fired).  

Honestly I really suspect Poles head coaches choices limited by ownership. I find it hard to believe that Ryan only had Eberflus, Jim Caldwell, and Dan Quinn in mind as the only candidates he wanted to hire? The O-Line yes, he should have done more to fix that.
