You know those movies where the hero starts strong, hits a massive roadblock, but then comes back even more powerful by the end? I still believe that is what is in store for Justin Fields. Last season, we saw our hero rise. Fields was tearing it up, playing by instinct, and making us believe. This season, with the playbook changes, it feels like he's in that tough middle part of the story. The part where the hero's trying to find his way, wrestling with his identity.
But here's the thing about those hero stories: they don't end in the middle. The hero fights through, learns, and comes out on top. Fields is our guy, and he's in the middle of his journey. The climax? It's coming. Let's back him up during this chapter, so we're all there cheering when he reaches the triumphant end of his tale. Bear Down!
So hero mentions others as possible root of the problems? Apparently we watched different flicks, Carolco or Cannon heros dont do that shit. He lost a lot today.
I completely disagree with the criticisms of Fields for "throwing coaches under the bus".
A) He took personal responsibility for own poor play. He said he needs to play HIS WAY and "you'll see". He now has to BACK IT UP. If he doesn't, he is 100% out of excuses and will be replaced next April. And I guarantee you he knows that.
B) His veiled criticisms of the scheme are correct. And by saying so, by saying "too much information" and "robotic", he is de facto admitting that he's failing in that department.
C) Fields is fighting for his career and football future here. He has literally hundreds of millions of dollars at stake. If I had that much on the line, yeah you can bet I'd be taking every shot I could at reaching the next level. "Protocol" and "decorum" can take a back seat.
D) Finally, frankly, I don't give a rat's ass if Getsy's feeling are hurt or he was made to look bad. Get the eff over it, dude. Guess what, Justin Fields is wayyyyyy more important and critical to the Bears success going forward than his coaches. F**k those guys. The Bears can get a new HC or OC any time they want. I could go to my local grocery store, throw out a net, and catch 3 or 4 OCs. Those guys are a dime-a-dozen. Flus could get fired today and Bears fans would barely remember his name a month from now.
I don't give a shit about their "feelings" or embarrassment.

Imo its not about their feelings, I dont care about any of their feelings, including Fields. Presser fortified my opinion we dont have a star QB here, mentally. Why, I already explained. I still hope he pans out and wish him all the best though.
I loved the honesty. It's exactly what we have been talking about on this messageboard. I don't think he was out of line at all. That was sure a lot better than the crap Eberflus tries to shovel down our throats about all the good stuff going on (the pressers after these losses) where the guy is just delusional at best and dishonest at worst. Fields is a breath of fresh air there. The NFL isn't stupid. They see how inept this franchise is in general - and the coaching staff in particular. The teams they are putting out there on gameday are not prepared to play. The play calling is horrific bad (the opposing teams comment on how easy it was to know what the Bear were about to do on plays). It's a clown show. We know it. The NFL knows it too.
He can be honest about how the entire team is frustrated and talk about how they're not where they're supposed to be etc. But sitting there and blaming it on the coaches when in fact I'd say it's 50% on coaching and 50% on him, is rich.
Be a professional and deal with your problems internally. You can be honest w/ your teammates, speak up during meetings and try to find a path forward as a TEAM. And then present a united front when you're dealing with the press. It's really not that hard to understand.

Be a leader.
I took it differently, Grizz. LOL, it doesn't mean I took it correctly though... that I'll admit. But I thought he looked very much a leader there - a lot more of a leader than Eberflus. Eberflus and Getsy are the rats on the sinking ship. They are setting up Fields for scapegoating to some extent. Fields is having none of it. He set the record straight. Unlike Eberflus, he seemed humble and honest to me. He had the integrity to answer those questions the best he could. Leaders do that kind of thing. Honest men do that kind of thing. Eberflus shovels us crap. Eberflus is going to be a goner I think. I won't miss him.

What record did he straight? He was timid as an howl. Only thing JF straights is his sunglasses... For Gods sake, this guy is gonna be a martyr here soon.
