Fox and Loggains are easily replaceable. Fangio isn't. The guy has made a decent, even good, defense out of practically nothing.
If Pace allows this to happen then I am done with Pace also. Fans understand the pain of a rebuilding effort being necessary, but you have to build - not tear down what is working. Otherwise we will never see the end of the tunnel here. It will just be endless seasons of futility.
Here we have a major building block for the team - a guy who can build us a GREAT defense again. We could truly be those "Monsters of the Midway" again with a defense to be proud of.
If Ryan Pace would allow Vic Fangio to walk, then he is no better than Jerry Angelo and Phil Emery. Just one more clueless GM.
Make Vic an Assistant HC then any other team that wants Vic has to offer him a HC position. Then tell Fox to deal with it.
Apparently Fox prefers a 4-3 defense, and Fangio prefers the 3-4. If we do end up with a new DC I hope we don't continue to switch our base D back-and-forth between the two defenses.
The below article brings up a point, about the players reaction. Dumping Vic Fangio may not play well with the D players. I "get it" that they have no say in this. But it probably isn't helpful for a unit that seems to be coming together, and with young players being developed well so far. With all of the problems and issues this team has, why create one that isn't necessary? It just makes zero sense to me.
Pace has said several times that he prefers a 3-4 because it creates more options when it comes to pressuring the QB.
If Fox really wanted a 4-3 why did he go after Fangio in the first place?! Two years they have spent millions of $ and draft picks transitioning from a 4-3 to 3-4 and now he wants Fangio gone and go back to 4-3? Seriously, what the **** is his problem?

Just another reason why I think this is bullshit. What position would Floyd play in a 4-3? He's too small to play DE IMO, he'd need to get up to at least the 265 range.

Even IF Fangio leaves, I hope they'll keep the 3-4 anyway. I like it better than the 4-3.
And btw, you guys remember that Rosenbloom article I posted a few weeks back wondering if Pace was still in charge because he wouldn't provide any answers? This would be the perfect time to come out and address these rumors. I think we, the fans, somehow deserve to know what's going on inside HH.

I was thinking the EXACT same thing. This Fangio thing is being reported at a number of outlets. Mike Mulligan of the Chicago Tribune isn't a click bait fan blog, and it's not a stupid Rosenbloom rant. If the report is bogus then why not say so if you're the GM? The fans have been through a lot this season, and yet, the one bright spot regarding the team is Vic Fangio developing young D talent for us, and putting a respectable D product on the field on gameday.
This is a "big deal" if the rumors are true.
But then again, what DO you say if the rumor is true? Nothing you can say. It would be a kick in the groin to the suffering fans.
If Pace says nothing to refute the rumor, I'd think there may be something to it. Otherwise why not speak up here?

Totally agree. There's absolutely NO REASON to fire Fangio and keep Fox.
IF they choose to fire him, they better clean house and fire EVERYBODY! Pace needs to grow a pair and show who's the boss and not let Fox control everything.

This is not a big problem if Fangio leaves. I belive Mel Tucker is availible, and he has familiarity with where the locker room and offices are in Halas Hall. He's a natural fit.

Ahh yesss. The famed Mel "Tuckered Out" Chicago Bears defense. Who could forget those glory days?
