First Gase and now Fangio. The Bears can't afford to lose another great coordinator.
This thread revives the notion Fangio should be our HC. Can we start a petition? Team would be better off with Gase/Fangio as the HC and Fox as the coord.
No, this team would be far better off with Fox in retirement on some sunny beach somewhere in Florida. If he's retained I wish you all an enjoyable 2017 while spend a year in some sunny beach somewhere far from here.
Alex, get a beach umbrella and some sunscreen ready!

I second that thought but it will be a battle since Alex will invite you all to the sunny Adriatic beaches of Croatia whilst I recommend the sunny beaches of southern Spain.

Sucks...
Fire Fox, Keep Fangio. If this means Keep him to be HC you do it. All he'd Need to do is finding a really good OC that can playcall. Fox is a Loser, Fangio a guy that wants to win and he lets them Play like this.
If Fang is leaving b/c he doesn't agree w/Fox, then that should be the final nail in the Fox coffin, only one of the main coaches should be guaranteed to stay, and thats Fangio.
100% AGREE
Fox and Loggains are easily replaceable. Fangio isn't. The guy has made a decent, even good, defense out of practically nothing.
If Pace allows this to happen then I am done with Pace also. Fans understand the pain of a rebuilding effort being necessary, but you have to build - not tear down what is working. Otherwise we will never see the end of the tunnel here. It will just be endless seasons of futility.
Here we have a major building block for the team - a guy who can build us a GREAT defense again. We could truly be those "Monsters of the Midway" again with a defense to be proud of.
If Ryan Pace would allow Vic Fangio to walk, then he is no better than Jerry Angelo and Phil Emery. Just one more clueless GM.
Hate to say I told you so, but this team is a hot mess. Coaching staff is a mess and if this rumor turns out to be true, it's just further proof that Fox really has bad judgement.
I sure hope that Pace will have the balls to fire Fox before Fangio leaves the Bears. And I hope that you all enjoyed that win on Sunday (I sure did) because the next five weeks could get very ugly.
This is where we find out if we have a solid GM or another bum. This is where the GM has to earn his salary, grow some balls, and make some "big boy" management decisions.
It's all on Ryan Pace here. Let's see what he does at the end of this season.

Well...not for nothing, while Bradley may not be a very good HC he was an excellent DC and players LOVE playing for the guy, so that wouldn't be awful. I gotta be honest, I don't think there is much to this at all to be quite honest. I don't know Fangio's contract details but I have to imagine it's for more than 2 years, so he would have to be released from his contract if that were the case. I think this is BS.
Apparently Fox prefers a 4-3 defense, and Fangio prefers the 3-4. If we do end up with a new DC I hope we don't continue to switch our base D back-and-forth between the two defenses.
The below article brings up a point, about the players reaction. Dumping Vic Fangio may not play well with the D players. I "get it" that they have no say in this. But it probably isn't helpful for a unit that seems to be coming together, and with young players being developed well so far. With all of the problems and issues this team has, why create one that isn't necessary? It just makes zero sense to me.
Why in the Hell would the Chicago Bears dump Vic Fangio?
This one really caught me by surprise. If it was being “reported” by another publication, I’d have completely dismissed it as click bait B.S., but when it’s on the Chicago Tribune it makes me wonder.
Mike Mulligan of the Chicago Tribune and morning host on WSCR-AM 670 in Chicago, is reporting that Chicago Bears defensive coordinator “Vic Fangio is rumored to be winding down his time with the team as part of a massive overhaul anticipated at the end of the season.”
Now a rumor is a long stretch from an actual report, but Mulligan says that moving on from Fangio has been the “subject of speculation for over a month.” He also is reporting that his insiders tell him that head coach John Fox will be back patrolling the sidelines in Chicago in 2017. Also, besides the new faces coming among the defensive coaching staff, Fox “will be reworking his offensive staff” as well.
If Fox really plans to use his assistants as the scapegoats for their disappointing 2016 season, I wonder how that will play out with the players?
What do you guys think about this?
Could Vic Fangio and offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains both be looking for new jobs at seasons end?
I just don’t see it. Loggains yes, but Fangio has been the one consistent bright spot of the team in the John Fox era. He’s had to plug in numerous players because of injury and he still has the Bears’ D ranked a respectable 16th in DVOA, 14th in the Aikman Efficiency Ratings and 7th in total yards against.
