There is no twisting it. Motm seriously wants the Bears to lose on purpose and he honestly believes that other teams in the NFL do it on purpose. Just have him tell you about how the Colts lost on purpose to get Luck.
I don't think anyone else feels this way at all but I know motm feels this way as he's said it numerous times.
Higher Draft Position > Lower Draft Position
LOL, I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I kept thinking, what's wrong with that? Otherwise just trade your top draft picks away for a slew of 6th and 7th round picks and load up on future Hall of Famers like the Pats did with Tom Brady. Like it's that easy. Right?
LOL, I was beginning to wonder if the basic laws of science - and the NFL - had changed on me this year without my knowing it :-)
I think everyone agrees that a high draft pick is better than a lower draft pick but that's only looking at it from one view. I'm looking at it from a wider view. I want the whole picture. I think finishing the season on a win streak is better than getting a higher draft pick. I know that it doesn't mean anything for where the Bears finish and it means a worse draft pick but it means far more the the entire franchise.
Just listen to players talk after games they've won compared to when they lose. We want a team that knows how to win even when they have more injuries than the opposing team. We want a team that can handle adversity. We want a team that has a swagger and confidence. We want a team that has momentum going into next season. All of this comes from winning, not losing and getting a high draft pick.
A high draft pick should be the consolation prize you get for working your ass off but just coming up short. It shouldn't be something you hope for but something you're alright settling for. I'm happy with getting a high draft pick after a terrible season, but I'm much happier with a team that finishes strong. Now that gets me excited for the next season.
