Yes, that should help a lot. But Barkley does seem to be able to get it downfield. It is a strange dynamic. I want Howard to do well, but I want them to lose the game. I am just going to sit back and try to enjoy the game as much as possible and whatever happens, happens.
I'd love for the Bears to win this game. I think it will happen but more than a W I want to see them look like a good team. I'd like to see them hit the QB. I'd like to see them make tackles. I'd like to see them cover receivers. I'd like to see them finish in the RZ. So yea, I want them to win (the draft will figure itself out) but more than that I want them to win convincingly so I can wake up Monday morning and for once this season not have hedge every Bears comment I make with "I know they suck but..."

yeah... different perspective. I'd rather not feel good about this one game, and in exchange feel good about all the games next season and be watching them in the playoffs.

Except a few positions in the draft doesn't always (I'd even argue usually) positively correlate with success the following season. If it did, the Browns, the Jaguars...blah blah blah. You've heard it before.
I want to feel good about the Bears right fricking now. I'll let the McCaskeys, and Pace, and the staff at HH worry about next year.

In years past I felt that way too. I felt that way (very much) this season. And shame on me for not feeling that way right now. This season finally wore me down
High draft picks don't always help a team though not always, obviously. But I'm old enough to remember some good top-5 picks from our past who did make a difference. I look at getting guys like Walter Payton, Dick Butkus, Gale Sayers. Dan Hampton and others whom the Bears drafted top-5, and those guys were special. I'd sure like to get a player like that in the next draft.
This season is in the toilet bowl, even if we do get through a butt-ugly game and beat a 1-win 49er team. Selfishly, I guess, I want to get something good out of this nightmare season.
Getting a truly elite player added to our roster would be mighty nice.
Could we blow the pick like we did with Cedric Benson? Sure. But I hope we get a very very special player for the future Bears teams. I was thinking about that today and feeling pretty good. Today I Googled how many Division-1 football players there are. I didn't have a clue. Well. There are over 12,000 players on rosters in a given year. That's just Division-1. The very best of those are drafted each year.
On April 27th, we could (could) end up with the top one or two players out of those 12,000.
Tomorrow will be an ugly game win or lose. I probably am not going to feel good even if we do win in a crapfest ugly game. I will feel mighty good if we get the rare opportunity to draft one of the top 1 or 2 players coming out of college though. That will make me feel a bit better for having suffered through these past painful seasons as a Bears fan.
Its rare for the Bears to be in the top 3. How anyone would want a meaningless win I find crazy. You guys really want to hurt the team? There is nothing positive that comes out if we win against the 49ers. I still wish we lost to either the Vikings or Lions to make us 1-10.
Imagine if this franchise drafted Manning instead of winning those meaningless games in the end?

Dude, there's not a Manning coming out in this draft class. Any QB we get with our first round pick is going to be a question mark / potential bust. If this were the year of Andrew Luck or Peyton Manning, I'd be a little more excited about losing games for a pick. There's not. Sure we could draft a good OT or DT or OLB but we could do that in positions 1-10.
You know what would piss me off? Getting the #1 or 2 overall pick and whiffing on it - Insult meet injury... Screw that. If Pace is a good GM and if Pace has good scouts he's going to get a good player wherever he picks in the first round. If he sucks, no matter where he picks we're going to

Come on! so the solution to worrying about Pace screwing up the pick is to not take the shot? Sorry, but screw THAT!
No lottery ticket means you lose for sure. Gimme the shot. Let Pace screw it up maybe, but gimme the shot.

So you rather not have a once in a generation type player like Garrett or Allen in fear that we can mess it up? I don't know if you know or not but we messed up on a lot of picks later on too.
Kevin White ( If we lost that bucs game we could of had a shot at Williams ) Kyle Fuller ( If we lost one more game we could of had Donald ) Shea Mcclellin ( If we lost a few games we could of got Fletcher Cox, Dontari Poe, or Luke Kuechly )
These are franchise changing players besides Williams but he's looking like one. Your team is as good as your playmakers. Tell me, who is our playmakers?
Jeffery? Lack luster season again... Freeman? He was looking good ( He's 30 btw )
That's about it.
We have a few above average players in: Goldman Floyd Whitehair Howard
What we're missing is more playmakers.
You telling me you would pass up on Garrett or Allen for a meaningless win that could set the franchise back for years? You telling me you wouldn't want a Von Miller/Kahil Mack type player on this team? Or a Cox type player on this team?
