I know we have been wishin on 3T FA sign, but what if they feel that they cant fill whole roster this year (Poles even said so), and they also feel that our own 3T Jones (who was not bad last year) could be better with better supporting cast around him, and is a sure starter? It does make sense when u think about it.
We do have a nice first round draft setup for next season if it ends up we don’t get what we’re looking for.

I just hope we tie our boys Johnson, and then Kmet and Mooney.
+1 And that brings up something I've been thinking about these past few days. We fans don't know how far our young players have improved. Players do develop (the good ones do when coached well). Only the coaches know where we are at right now with some of these youngsters who are ascending. I've GOT to believe one or two players are going to surprise us fans this year and be solid starters. There are many factors and moving parts to rebuilding a team and this is just one factor, but an important one - and us fans can totally overlook sometimes.
Coaching MATTERS! If you want to build a team through the draft, like everyone says they do, then you have to have coaches who can actually teach and develop players. I can assure you that that isn't the norm, both in the NFL and college. Coaches get by on the talent of the players they recruit in a lot of situations. That is for sure the case for a lot of strength and conditioning guys. Its a shit show there. Same thing with position coaches though. I know a lot of the coaches the Bears hired have a rep for being good teachers...so hopefully we'll see some development from guys in their second seasons with this group. I like that there wasn't a ton of turnover on the staff.
That's good to know. I do hope the Bears have good coaches who can get the best from these players. And I really do believe fans often overlook the fact that some players do ascend into good starters. Just because young/new players didn't start last year doesn't necessarily mean they can't be starters, and good starters. I'd sure like to see a surprise or two on the Bears this year.
Spielberger is spot on Tonyan was an ace at finding openings in zone coverage and he's also an excellent red zone and goal line target with glue for hands. The guy has very few drops over his entire career. For what he cost us it's a great pickup.
Perfect choice for a move TE and as a slot receiver or blocker on running plays much like ESB is. These are key players in Getsy's offense which is why we brought ESB back and targeted Tonyan. We also weaken a rival by improving our own team.
Spent some time looking over those remaining FA and to be honest there's not much left on the plate we could use right now. A few DBs maybe but most would want more than Poles would pay at the moment. These guys will probably still be on the street post draft and more willing to accept 1 year deals for far less money. I'd rather seem him bring back DH-C.
There's literally nothing left for OT or DT that looks good to me unless Poles picks up another run stuffer on the cheap just to add depth and competition. I believe for the most part his shopping is done unless maybe he engineers a trade for a vet using later round picks. From my perspective it's now gonna be 90% about the draft and how to maximize his return there.
