I know we have been wishin on 3T FA sign, but what if they feel that they cant fill whole roster this year (Poles even said so), and they also feel that our own 3T Jones (who was not bad last year) could be better with better supporting cast around him, and is a sure starter? It does make sense when u think about it.

I'm thinking they've scouted multiple 3Ts they like and can get in different rounds of the draft, each with their pros and cons.

Poles is being patient and he's not going to overspend to fill a hole just to fill it. I can respect that approach, as it will generally have good outcomes. Of course his valuations are not going to be 100%. He'll get things wrong...it happens. But I can see why he was hesitant to give some of the guys available the money they got.

I think it’s also possible moves are still coming. I believe I saw we STILL have the most cap space in the league after all of our moves.

+1 And that brings up something I've been thinking about these past few days. We fans don't know how far our young players have improved. Players do develop (the good ones do when coached well). Only the coaches know where we are at right now with some of these youngsters who are ascending. I've GOT to believe one or two players are going to surprise us fans this year and be solid starters. There are many factors and moving parts to rebuilding a team and this is just one factor, but an important one - and us fans can totally overlook sometimes.

Coaching MATTERS! If you want to build a team through the draft, like everyone says they do, then you have to have coaches who can actually teach and develop players. I can assure you that that isn't the norm, both in the NFL and college. Coaches get by on the talent of the players they recruit in a lot of situations. That is for sure the case for a lot of strength and conditioning guys. Its a shit show there. Same thing with position coaches though. I know a lot of the coaches the Bears hired have a rep for being good teachers...so hopefully we'll see some development from guys in their second seasons with this group. I like that there wasn't a ton of turnover on the staff.
