I'd be stoked to get a guy like that with a Day 3 pick
Because of his size, he will probably go lower than 3. On the other hand, if he impresses everybody at the NFL combine the way he did at Senior Bowl, I may also vote for round 3.
I have been thinking about WR injuries. ACL, ankle, and hamstring accounts for most of them, and those are all equal opportunity injuries.
I am not saying weight is completely irrelevant. A 140-lb. guy should stick to 10K races. But if a guy can get his weight in the 170’s, I’m not going fret too much about it.
And it will be interesting to see his "measurables" at the Combine. I've seen him listed as tall as 5'10" and 168 pounds. I've also seen him listed closer to 160 and 5'8" - and he has undoubtedly been trying to gain some quality weight for the Combine. That was a good point by butkus3595 about him being a bit similar to Mooney (5'11" and 173). Mooney will be out of contract after this season ends. Mooney was a 5th round pick. There is no guarantee the Bears re-sign him (I hope the do but you never know for sure).

From what I’ve seen of Dell, he and Mooney are similar in straight speed, but Dell is better route runner on the short-to-medium routes.

What do you think?
Mooney is so much better than Dell at this point. It isn't even close. Dell is (understandably) raw at this point. A project. Mooney is ahead of him (understandably so) due to his time in the NFL going up against NFL talent, while Dell played against lessor D1 teams - teams like East Carolina, Tulsa, South Florida and the like. The night I watched him play Tulsa it really stood out that Tulsa was not much of a team (3 win season in a lessor AAC Conference). It was like watching our local Illinois State football team play... in fact Tulsa was in our conference at one time. Anyway, Dell could use his raw speed and those quick jitterbug moves to make it easy. That's not happening against NFL defenses like it did against that Tulsa team.
Mooney is faster than Dell. No question there.
Mooney looks a ton more powerful/stronger than Dell.
Dell runs a limited route tree. He gets by with his great jitterbug skills (and he is great after the catch faking D guys out with them too). Dell could possibly be Mooney in a couple of years in the NFL. But he isn't even close to that now. Mooney was a lucky later round draft guy. It was like catching lightening in a bottle when the Bears got him in the 5th round. Dell could possibly be like that too. But it isn't a slam-dunk that he is anything more than a gadget player. Sure, take a flyer on Dell in the 5th round or later if he's still there. That's just my 2-cents worth and definitely I could be wrong. But Fields does need better talent than these "hope and a prayer guys" that Poles has thrown his way so far. That's where I'd classify Dell.
One report says he ran 4.42. Let’s see what he does at the combine. Mooney ran 4.38. Mooney didn’t run the cone drills. Too bad, I was going to bet you a beer that Dell does better.

Draft buzz has moved Dell up to #7 on their WR list and one spot ahead of Rashee Rice based on their Senior Bowl. They say he might even go in the second round, but more likely 3-4. If he shows out at the combine, I don’t think he’ll last to the 5th round.

I don't doubt that at all. Heck, Velus Jones was a high 3rd round pick at #71. If the Bears draft Dell that high, I just hope he is a great asset for Fields to work with.

Mooney's 10 yd split was 1.44...which was better than 99.8% of receivers. Just for reference, Tavon Austin ran a 4.34, .04 seconds faster than Mooney, but his 10yd split was 1.55. Mooney's short area speed is ELITE. Dell's may be similar...I'll have to see what I can find.

I know that. We just need to see what Dell and others do at the combine.
I don’t think Mooney could beat him on those cone drills, but we will never know, because Mooney declined to run them at the combine. I think they are more relevant than straightforward acceleration for a slot receiver precision route runner, which is what I’m looking for.

I think the 40 is pretty much useless. But the 10 and 20 is more valuable to me, especially at receiver. Receivers do more direct running than other positions, but the 10 specifically shows a players ability to accelerate, and Mooney's ability there is elite. Top .2% in the league elite. So Dell would have to run one hell of a cone drill to beat Mooney with Mooney's ability to accelerate.
