You started beating again. We are now officially done with Carter trashing until draft day.
And hey, it's okay if we promote our own ideas of what we think is best for Poles to do this year. We don't have to agree on any of this. We are just trying to make our best supporting case as to why we think Poles should bring in these various players. I'm going to be like brasilbear and reserve the right to change my mind on this too. I go a bit back and forth with my own feelings on what would be the best here. The thing I struggle with is how to best upgrade the offense without over-drafting (reaching for) players we need there. I understand you can't have it both ways (true BPA and also draft for needs).
sad to say, but until a trade, draft, or signing is made, all we have right now are dead horses.
I think the frustrating part of this period between now and FA & that the factors involved with FA and the draft are mostly "unknowns" in the equation. We don't know who will ultimately reach FA. Just because contracts are running out doesn't mean the teams will let these guys walk. Some will. Others won't. And we have zero clue as to what our draft picks will finally be after the trade-dust settles. Even if Poles does trade down we don't know who that will be with and what we will get from them. It is all a HUGE unknown right now. The difference between the #1 overall pick and the various trade-down scenarios is vast. And we don't even have a clue as to what we are going to draft at this point. Not exactly, due to FA filling some needs before the draft. There are more moving parts to this than we usually have.
So I figure we can just have fun spit balling it all. But we have pretty much no clue as to what is really going to happen. LOL, and the sports media people have no clue too. I read one yesterday that said basically there would not be two trade downs by the Bears. Really? How does he KNOW that at this point? Poles is quite capable of anything at this point. It will be fascinating to watch though. Quite possibly this will be THE most pivotal off-season in Bears history. That may be hyperbole but maybe not. We finally have our franchise QB in place, and also have an incredible level of resources to bring in roster talent (both on O and D). I can't imagine what the team will look like going into the 2023 season. It could be an awesome one if (the elephant in the room if) Poles, the coaches and the scouts can be successful identifying the best talent for the team.
Yep, and before the draft, we don't even know who is going to be eligible. Guys can declare or withdraw between now and then. YUUUUGE pile of unknown unknowns. So until something actually happens, all we have are dead horses, and we will justifiably so continue to beat them. It's all we have. Either that or fold up shop for the season. But that's even more boring than beating a dead Ragnar.

Two entirely different subjects.
One (the dead horse) is from the past and is about this mythical notion that somehow Poles should have "supported Fields" with all this mysterious offensive star power last offseason despite having virtually no resources to work with and holes all over the roster.
The other is about the present and near-future with regards to a major draft prospect many believe the Bears should strongly consider.

I will try one last time. Poles had a choice. He could have drafted OL and WR instead Gordon and Brisker. I think he made the right choice, but there were a number of people here (JABF, Ric, Etc.) who complained about the choice as not “supporting Fields.” This went on for weeks.
The dead horse I was referring to is the Carter bashing.
