Some of the 670AM guys were talking about this potential hire a week or so ago and one of them said Warren hasn't been shy about his aspirations to be NFL commissioner some day. One of the guys said he didn't like him as a candidate for that reason and that he'd essentially be using the Bears as a stepping stone. But, who cares? Even if we only have Warren as our President/CEO for a few years that's still a few years of solid leadership that should only benefit the Bears.
This is huge for the franchise. In fact, this could be the greatest boost to the franchise since the George Halas days. We not only replaced Ted Phillips. We replaced him with a very gifted President and CEO. This is a game-changer for the present and the future. We will also see one of the best stadiums in the NFL build with this guy in charge.
The franchise has stagnated for years now. Certainly it has since Papa Bear's death in 1983. The '85 super bowl team was pretty much built before his death. The franchise decay began back then. Now, finally, we have a CEO who can guide the franchise into the modern NFL era.
We now have our CEO to go with the team's (finally) getting its franchise QB in Justin Fields. If Poles and Eberflus can't take us to the promised land now - then this guy will bring in the people who CAN get us there.
