Would you be willing to trade future 1s in a trade down? Running some sims and figured I'd ask everyone's opinions. Houston is offering their 12th 32nd and both Cle and their 2024 1st rounders. Next year I think there's going to be a Megatron type WR in Harrison Jr that will probably come out that we could trade to get if we are in the mid teens. Might not get the haul we are hoping for this year but would pay off next imo. I know it's all fun right now not expecting much the rest of the year.

So am I understanding you correctly, that this is 2 first rounders from their 2023 draft and also 2 first rounders in 2024? I think I'd take that. It would be taking a realistic long view of the rebuild. We are going to need a haul in 2024 as well as this coming year. That 2024 draft would then have us with 3 first round picks. And this year we'd have 2 first round picks at #12 and #32. Yeah. I'd take that in a heartbeat. 5 first round picks between our 2023 and 2024 drafts.

What is Houston getting from Chicago in this trade?
Decisions don't exist in vacuums however. What do I think about the players I could get at 6? And is the value of players I could get comparable enough to make it worth passing up that one? I'd have to feel strongly about those players to pass up a guy like Carter. I can't give a more definitive answer because I haven't done the research on a lot of these guys yet.
What I am trying to ask is, if we assume that Carter is going to be as good as Watt or Donald — and without trying to formulate a specific trade with named players — what would it take in terms of the quality of players received in the trade to consider the trade a better outcome for the team? If we get three solid starters from the trade and one of them makes the Pro Bowl once or twice, while Carter (like Watt or Donald) is Defensive Player of the Year for the Panthers and goes on to have a career like Donald, did we get enough to justify the trade? If not, what more would it take? I think Poles would first need to have a generalized formula like this before he can assess whether the players offered are quality enough to make the trade worthwhile. Does this make sense?
I think I get what you're saying. I would say that if we were able to get 3 solid starters with one of them being pro bowl caliber throughout their career thats probably a win. Watt has never won a Super Bowl, and Donald only won one when he was surrounded by other pro bowl/HOF level talent...and even then, they needed a better QB to get it done. So if we can improve the OVERALL TEAM...the sum of the parts would probably overrule the "generational talent". We have the part that Watt never had and Donald didn't get for a long time...the QB. That is the thing that will make this team a Super Bowl winner or not...no matter who we have at 3 technique or defensive end. I'd have to feel like the player that would be available to me at, in your example 6, would be that player who will be a pro bowl caliber guy consistently throughout their career in order to pass up Carter for example.
Now, my opinion on all this can change as I do more draft prep. But I've seen a decent amount of Carter, and he's impressive.

What is Houston getting from Chicago in this trade?
I'm not sure I understood that myself. If it was for the #2 overall pick of the draft (that we no longer have right now... I guess we are a #3 pick after the games this past weekend) then I'd take that tradedown. But I think these draft games are fun, but not very accurate. I can play with them and end up getting crazy good trades that have no basis in the real world.

Yes, this is one of those trades that only an idiot GM would offer.

Yeah that was for them to jump up 10 spots. All we gave up was #3 of I remember right.
Didn't check Seattle because they are drafting at #2. Didn't check Jets, Giants, or Washington.
If I were taking one of these, it would be Panthers. We get a very good DE in first round, possible WR1 with first pick in second and BPA lineman with other pick in second. If Poles is any good at all, that upgrades three positions of need.
