LB's Week 11 Rant: Fire them all, not just Fox!

Can we really justify getting rid of Fangio after spending 2 years changing our scheme from a 4-3 to a 3-4?

Most of our injuries also happen on defense.

Goldman and Mcphee out the majority of the season.
Trevathan missed 2 games
Freemans about to miss 4
Fuller hasn't played a single down
Hall has been out since the Cowboys game
Houston has been down for the majority of the season
Floyd has been down for a few games and could possibly be gone the rest of the season

Doesn't help much that our offense can't sustain a drive which in turn keeps our defense out. You can't expect our defensive players not to be tired after playing the majority of the time.

Give Fangio some secondary players and our defense will look much better. Eric Berry is a FA I want us to sign next year for that reason.

And he is incredible at developing young talent.  He has developed players into very special talents on his past teams, and he will do that here too.  Look what he's done here with a unit hit with key injuries.  He is one of the best DC's in the entire NFL.  I don't know if he's HC material though.  What I do know is that I don't want to regress to the Mel Tucker days of 50+ point blowouts.  I kind of like having a respectable defense again, in spite of all the D injuries.

You don't let a talent like that walk unless you are crazy.  

Because it does matter.  It's all part of the pie.  Points are obviously a major factor but lets not forget that the other parts of the Bear's team can directly affect the defense and the score.  Don't forget that special teams TDs and defensive TDs scored against the Bears have nothing to do with Fangio's defensive unit.

But that's the point, when the O shuts down and stops moving the ball all of a sudden the Bears Def has to cover 1/2 the field, which makes it look like they they did a great job in YPG, but the reality is the O was so bad that the other O rarely had to drive 80-90 yards. 

If the D is great and rarely allows the other team to see the 40, or the ST's is good enough to negate it PR, see the Bears in the mid 00's, then the O is punished in ypg b/c they rarely had to drive 80-90 yards. 

YPG has so many hidden meanings that taking it as a base stat is just a bad idea. Ppg isn't perfect, again def starting on it's side of the field makes things difficult but at the end of the day it's a far safer stat.
