Once you DO get a great QB it can be amazing how long these guys can perform in some cases. Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers combined for 8 passing TDs this week (not including rushing TDs). Russell Wilson, Drew Brees, Big Ben and a few others... these guys can have long high-quality careers spanning a number of years. You realize why they are valued so highly. This is why GMs often overdraft the position. It can make-or-break the franchise for years. No other position has quite that level of impact upon a franchise.
Bad franchises overdrafting QBs is a big part of why they stay bad.

You'll get no argument from me on that one, Sox. I just want us to finally get a good QB. Like, in my lifetime, would be nice :-)

Speaking of bad franchises and bad drafting, ask yourself these questions:
What's your level of confidence in Ryan Pace picking another QB? What's your level of confidence in Matt Nagy influencing that pick? What's your level of confidence in Matt Nagy developing that QB in his system?
Neither of these clowns has produced any empirical evidence for why they deserve a positive response.
Pace has had 6 offseasons and still hasn't been able to put together more than a modicum of talent on the offensive side of the ball. He has consistently whiffed both in the draft and FA markets, particularly with high draft picks. After 6 full offseasons, his team is still clearly lacking a competent QB, OL, running game, or receiving corps.
Nagy was hired as an offensive-guru and QB-whisperer HC and has failed miserably to deliver any of that. His O was low-middle in 2018, 29th in 2019, and is bottom of the barrel at best again this year. It has scored ZERO points in 6 of 7 3rd quarters so far. It's a joke that struggles to reach double digits in points scored.
So....do we really think either of these guys should continue doing what they both have shown themselves to be complete failures at already?
Can teams overdraft QBs? Sure. But it's like the lottery. You can't win if you don't play.
You gotta keep trying until you finally hit the jackpot.
It's bad if a QB busts, but it's even worse (in my book) if you don't even try to draft one... keep pulling that draft trigger and eventually you'll get your guy. At least get into the (draft) game and try. And I'm not too keen on bringing deadbeat vets in at QB. They are usually available due to them being flawed players that their own team didn't want to keep. Sure, there have been notable exceptions. But those ARE exceptions. JMO.
If Pace can't draft QB and OL (or worse, continues to give away our draft picks) then he is not the guy for Chicago to keep around. Yes, that is harsh. JMO.
