You seem to be arguing both sides here. You should take a play maker like Elliot in the top 5 because it's tough to find play makers outside of the top 5, but you shouldn't do that because...Howard. Which one is it?
Well...you could Fuller hasn't been good, but he's been hurt, and I think he'd be a better safety. Kyle Long has been a very good mid round pick. As for our success in picking playmakers in the middle of the first, that has more to do with the people picking than the ability of the players. Going back to the Fuller pick we could have drafted Zack Martin, CJ Mosely, Calvin Pryor, Bradin Cooks, Ha Ha, Aaron Donald was chosen right before us. It's a myth you can't get play makers in the middle of the first round...you just have to identify the right one's.
The only player you listed that is a true stud was Aaron Donald. You don't find that every day. Von Miller isn't there. A Luke Kuechly isn't there. A Patrick Peterson isn't there...
I can keep going on. The point is franchises need playmakers. Your best shot to get studs are in the top 10.
Luke Kuechly
Von Miller
Cam Newton
Andrew Luck
Patrick Peterson
Julio Jones
Ndamukong Suh
Joe Haden
Gerald McCoy
Aldon Smith
Ezekiel Ansah
Khalil Mack
Anthony Barr
Raiders have Cooper and Mack now. You telling me that franchise would be better off not being in the top 10? Those 2 years?
Lot of these franchises got turn around thanks to 1 player...
I can give you a list of just Bears studs longer than yours who weren't top ten picks and some not even first round picks at all. It's more about getting the best players when you pick than where you pick them. Statistically more top ten picks fail than those between 11-20 because more are QBs and others drafted for their upside like Kevin White was.
Monsters you can't just toss out list of names to support your point of view and call it fact because we can all do that. While there is usually some truth in what you believe it's not anywhere as universal or as exclusive as you'd like everyone else to believe. We don't.
