Okay, but as you saw in the last 2 weeks, DB's track down Howard can get him from behind he's not fast enough to finish. That doesn't happen w/Elliott on those two plays, he has the size and speed to finish. There is a lack of a 2nd gear evident in Howard which is why he fell.
True but over the first 5 to 10 yards when he has a head of steam up he's as quick and tough to bring down as any young back I've seen. He's much closer to a "Beast Mode" Lynch than he is a Jamaal Charles or even a Matt Forte. The kid is a load and he know it.

yeah, but any quick line penetration from a defenseman is going to be trouble for a RB. Any RB.

Soul lets not get carried away with any comparrisons after a few games. Let the kid have a l few seasons to show what he is going to be.
Im not talking about behind the line...im talking when he is free and nothing but open field he is easily tracked down.
man.... I'll still take his production There are faster backs that hard hard to catch in the open field, but you need to get the ball in the open field first. Howard seems to be able to do that. Yards he makes is all I care about. If he could get more if he was faster.... well, I'd like to have them too but most backs don;t get what he gets so I'm happy.

Agreed. Howard has looked really good in three of the games he as started. And two games where he was not very productive (for whatever reason). I am optimistic that he will work out long term for us at RB. Understand that long term at RB can only be 3 or 4 years.
RB in the NFL is a very physically demanding position. We need to see if he can stand up to 20+ carries a game, consistently. And still maintain this level of productivity.

I'm not complaining about Howard, don't get me wrong, but there is one guy trying to make a case against taking a Elliott level RB b/c you can get a Howard lvl RB later; and the reality is the drop off is high.
I'm very happy w/Howard, he shouldn't have dropped to the 4th, huge mistake by the rest of the leauge, that was a 2nd or 3rd round talent player, and he's showing it.

Exactly, I have no doubt that there are as many fan bases yelling about their team not picking up Howard as there are Bears fans yelling about Pace not drafting a QN in the fourth. But there is no need to slap at EE to prop up Howard. That is what some of us are pushing back against.

I appreciate his 25 fantasy football points he gave me this week. He is one of the reasons I am in first place in my league. Best 15th rounder I ever took.
Goes to show you why you don't need to draft a RB in the first.
I'm really enjoying Howard. He seems he can do it all.
So why in another thread were you boosting EE over Floyd as your reason for needing to draft 3-5 in 2017. Howard isn't quite Elliott but he's not far behind in production.
Posts like this undermine the very reason you try to give for losing to win in order to draft higher. It makes no sense. Can you see that?
The only thing I was "boosting" about was his speed. Still isn't worth taking in the first round. Howard proved that.
You have a better shot at finding a playmaking player in the top 5 than you do in the mid rounds. Tell me how all our mid round 1st picks were in the past 10 years? Exactly not so good...
Why keep repeating history if you know it isn't going to work out?
