Who gets upset when we criticize Pace? I remember some poster saying that if you criticize Pace you wanted Emery back. But that was seasons ago.
I see very few people defending Pace anywhere.
People just want the guy to do well. I wanted that with Jerry Angelo. I wanted it with Emery. Now I'm hoping this guy can get it done. I just want to win. Don't care who gets us there or how. Just do it.
Crazy how some people will try to defend every single move done by this organization. Pace has been the GM since 2015. It’s HIS team. As of today, his record is 34-47 and just one playoff game, so he’s literally done more bad than good. Can he still become a great GM? Of course, and I sure hope so. But let’s not pretend that he’s done a great job overall so far.
And quite frankly, always blaming everything on your predecessor is such a lame excuse, whether it’s in sports, or politics, the economy, your relationship or whatever.
Pace didn’t inherit Fox, he chose Fox. He didn’t inherit Glennon, he chose Glennon. See where I’m going w/ this? I could go on and on and on.
Loving every single move by the Bears doesn’t make one a better fan.
OL and TE are by far our team’s biggest weaknesses. The TE position has been abysmal for years, so I don’t get that move AT ALL. That’s not me being a hater, it’s me making an observation. Graham hasn’t done anything since NO and now all of sudden he’s supposed to come back better than ever?
You don’t need to be an NFL executive to know this was a waste of money that could’ve been used elsewhere.
Bingo ^^^^
You catch flak around here for criticizing Ryan Pace as though its a sacrilege. Strange, huh?
I give him credit for rebuilding the defense. He has had some FA successes and some real busts like most GMs. I liked his aggressiveness in getting Mack, who would have been the cornerstone of a SB winning team....if Pace hadn't utterly f'd up the QB pick.
Now on to the not so good stuff.
He had 4 straight top-10 picks when he got here and busted 2 of them completely. One other is a decent player who isn't a difference maker despite playing a high-impact position. The 4th is a ILB who shows promise but doesn't really tilt the field. He also spent a mid-2nd round pick on a guy from a no-name tiny school who's college competition was against players who are now all accountants, actuaries, and marriage counselors. Needless to say, that one busted badly too. We STILL don't have a reliable TE.
Pace is the 6th year of his "rebuild" and has put up only one winning season and zero playoff wins. And we STILL don't have a freakin' QB.
It gets old
What gets old is the constant criticism of Pace without any attempt at understanding the reasoning behind the decision making or the factors that had to be dealt with at the time. Additionally forever labeling players "busts" because they aren't all pros or "don't live up to their draft position" isn't dealing with the reality of the draft. Most draftees don't make it 4 years in the league. Even first round picks get thin after that. And not all draft classes are the same. A top 10 pick one year wouldn't get picked until the 2nd round another year. It's not static and can vary greatly from class to class. It is in no way an exact science and a lot of outside factors are involved, many the GM has no control of.
Pace has made mistakes, and I wish more of our draft picks worked out too, but I understand why Pace picked the way he did. In hindsight everything is easy and "obvious." Just pointing out things that didn't work out is not useful criticism or analysis if you don't also consider why those decisions were originally made.
I don't know what their plan is for Jimmy....you don't know what their plan is for Jimmy...but bashing new players just because you think he doesn't fit the plan you don't know about is mind blowing!
What does Nagy need from a TE?
IDK...do you?
But they paid too much for a player you haven't even seen play in the system you don't have insider knowledge of...ok!
Two superior franchises got rid of him. One being the Seahawks and the other being the Packers...
For a few million more we could of got Hooper who is just entering his prime instead we got an aging veteran who is a shell of his former self that has NO upside at all...
There is nothing you can say that can justify the move...
Sea seemed to go away from the Te position when they dropped him. The next year their best Te had 269 yards lol
When he went to GB it was the year McCarthy got fired, so maybe LeFleur wanted a different type of player 🤷♂️ they surely reduced his targets from 2018 to 2019 in a big way, even though he was still in the top 3 of targets both years, so maybe they are going away from a receiving heavy Te...idk
Point being, both "superior franchises" haven't replaced his production from that position so either they fucked up as well or they released him due to their plans for that position.
It's not always about the long term upside when you lack production on so many levels. Graham had more rec yards in 2019 then all of the Bears Te's combined, and only 2 other players Robinson and Miller had more yards.
There are other reasons beyond production that could be a factor as well, but that is mainly known from the inside and us fans never really hear those discussions.
Plus they can still get another Te that may please some public opinions like yours, while still using Graham as more of a Wr of sorts. It's not like Gabriel and Wimms tore it up lol
My main point was that i find it so weird that people still rag on decisions before the year plays out. It's a waste of time, energy, and really sets a tone for a negative personality, and i'm too old for that shit lol ✌
Former Colts TE Eric Ebron is going to the Steelers on a two-year, $12 million deal, per source.
Ebron/Eifert cannot stay healthy if you cannot stay healthy you aren't likely going to get paid. Jimmy doesn't tend to miss to many games.
As much as I didn't like the Graham signing, I will say in this Pace's defense:
A) Graham is nothing like he used to be but he's still a steady producer. Will get you 400 yards and 4 TDs. He's "reliable" which is better than our entire TE-group last year combined.
B) He's been durable for years. Ebron, Burton, Shaheen....all spend way too much time on the injured list over the years.
C) Graham didn't count against the comp pick formula since he was released, Ebron would
