I have no desire to see the Bears draft Peppers. I find him to be incredibly over rated. I've watched him since he was a freshman in high school here in Jersey. He's a tremendous athlete and one of the best I've ever seen with the ball in his hands, but I don't think he's very good defensively. He should be playing running back. Michigan made him a hybrid linebacker because he's not very good in coverage and to me he's soft in run support...he's never wanted to stick his nose in there and be physical on defense. Just my two cents, but I'll be disappointed if the Bears draft Peppers.
We always find a way to pick lower than we should because we just win a few games that just don't mean a damned thing.
We need a top three. Prefer top two and then we can pretty much get whoever we really need.
I agree, but don't you get that queasy feeling in your stomach that we'd still screw this up? I do. Our pick will probably stumble and fall from the draft podium and need a rod in him :-(

Teddy has this figured out. He made the Bears attorneys change the language to require that any person drafted by the Bears submit himself to being rodded up immediately upon signing of the contract. Teddy is not stupid. He is taking no more chances on broken or cracked bones. The Bears have him there as their braintrust for a reason.

Big Ted is still working on the "Hot Dog" project. It's a big deal to John Fox in particular.

Based on our last 10 years of 1st round ineptitude, I'd say the odds are high Pace will manage blow it again.

Hot Dog! That's a 10/10 football post. Too bad you can't put this on the old board!
Teddy sweats ALL the details! That little stub sticking out of the right side of that lower hot dog. Teddy is up in arms. He wants to know how much that stub is costing us. He wants Fox to find out if we can make do with a shorter stub that would be less materials cost. We could save .003 on each hot dog. Plus, how much does each one of those grill marks cost? You need grill time to get those marks. The less grill time each hot dog gets, the more you can put through. He is having Pace look into using grill mark decals on the dogs so we can completely eliminate the grill
1. Browns MYLES GARRETT, DE/OLB TEXAS A&M The debate is already raging, and it will continue on no matter where the Browns pick: Should they draft a quarterback early? Keep in mind that they also hold Philadelphia’s first-rounder (No. 24 here), plus an extra second-rounder via Tennessee. Do they have enough faith in a) Cody Kessler’s development, and/or b) their own ability to find another viable QB prospect later, to pass on a quarterback here? For now, I’m betting they do, and much of that has to do with what we’ve seen so far from Kessler, a hand-picked Hue Jackson player.
That, and the fact that Garrett is the best player in this draft class. Add him to Danny Shelton, Carl Nassib and Emmanuel Ogbah, and suddenly the Browns’ front seven is in business.
2. 49ers DESHONE KIZER, QB NOTRE DAME Unlike in Cleveland, there is no real discussion to be had here. The 49ers have to find themselves a quarterback—ideally, one that can start from the get-go. The jury will stay out until 2017 on Kizer’s (or Deshaun Watson’s or any other rookie QB’s) ability to do that, but Kizer much of what it takes, including mobility and an arm to find tight windows downfield.
3. BEARS DESHAUN WATSON, QB CLEMSON Here’s a partial list of the prospective 2017 free-agent QB class: Kirk Cousins, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Case Keenum, Brian Hoyer, Ryan Mallett, Geno Smith, Landry Jones. Anyone in there feeling like a game-changer for the Bears? The answer is “no,” which is why Chicago almost has to take a quarterback in Round 1. Watson’s athleticism is the main attraction, but for the mistakes he makes (too many of them) there is arm talent there that could be developed outside of Clemson’s QB-friendly system. Plus, no other quarterback in this class has played—or thrived—in the big-money moments Watson has faced repeatedly.
Was ghosting another site and Windy said he thinks Watson has a lot of the same traits as Mariota, who Pace is said to have wanted to trade up and get so this could make sense.
I'm going to need to see a lot more on all of the QB class before I decide who I like. So far I haven't been impressed with any of them. Wentz last last was about the only QB I've really liked in the last few years. I disliked both Mariota and Winston the year before but they have done better than I expected in the NFL.
There is always at least 1 or 2 decent QB's in every draft, you just have to find them, and they have to fit w/what your coaches want the QB to do. What is the point of drafting a who is small and quick(rg3, wilson, bridgewater etc) if you are going to limit them to staying in the pocket for 3-5 sec's? What's the point of taking a traditional pocket qb if you want them rolling out all the time or playing option football?
So much of that matters. And imo I worry for the idea of a running qb in Chicago b/c of that SF turf. So while it seems like Watson might be a guy ala Mariotta that Pace might target, I question the very idea of it, the very field you play on for 8 games is going to neutralize that style for a good portion of the year.
