Many of the followers were ok IMO. For me, it was the two "leaders" that set the tone. They were the cancer. But remember, this is just us on this board talking. Ski says he does not regret opening it up, nore does he see that as the demise of the board. He says it was just his lack of interest. Due to crime and democrats.
It hurt to even type that.
its over and done, now we will need help here, more then ever. the heat is on
This is very true. I think that many will slip through. It's just the nature of things. They will be looking for a place to go to. Have requests have increased?
Isn't that what he wanted? He changed the rules and allow HHM and Grim to troll over and over again.
Then out of all people he deleted JABF account there for telling us he wants someone to take over. Then his last message I saw trying to find any reason as to why he wanted to close down the site as in Chicago's political view and violent crimes...
I think he's been a bit depress lately and ever since Alex made this forum and was spreading the message it was the thing to put him over the line.
I didn't know/don't know all those behind the scenes decisions. Maybe his sign off had to do more with pride. I will claim blissful ignorance and think it was class. Can't blame him for being depressed. Combine that group with the Bears season and I'd want to kick the chair out!
+1 I figure we all struggle at times. Life can be pretty tough, and we don't know what another person is going through. My gut feeling is that Rick was going through a rough time in his personal life. I had exchanged some PMs with him over the last year or so, and it just seemed like he was a good guy who was struggling a bit. Life can do that to you. I have zero bad feelings towards the guy, even after he booted me out of the messageboard. I just hope things work out well for the guy. Certainly there are more important things in life than a messageboard. Hope he takes care of himself and his family.

I think time and distance changes things. It sounds like he hasn't lived in Chicago for awhile, and no longer relates as being Chicagoan. Add to that the state of this team over the last 5+ years and why put in the time and energy...and money. $75 a month, even if some or all of that is culled via ad's sometimes and that's a lot of cash and time. My guess was he was tired of going out of pocket and didn't want users paying so he opened up the site to trolls to help drive traffic by adding more posters. Problem was the posters that came in drove out just as many people so traffic stayed flat; and my guess is it actually started to drop a little. Hence him dropping the site.
I don't want to offend any Republicans here but I've always thought die hard Republicans were all a little touched in the head. At least all of the ones I know. Of course I know a few die hard Democrats that are bit touched also. I don't think it's healthy at all to be that attached to one side or the other. Politics suck!

I think that is probably a big part of it too ^^^^^

Any more it looks like both parties have plenty of crazies. Sometimes I wonder how there could be so many crazy people.

Good point. Where I live the crazy Republicans outnumber the crazy Democrats though. Bunch of fools.
Another thing I find funny is how he keeps talking about how the Bears have been so terrible so he's switching his team, TO THE JAGUARS! I understand pulling for the team you live by but please don't use being bad as a reason to switch teams when the team you switched too is so much worse. Seems like he contradicted himself a lot.

Hey, I've been meaning to ask (off topic) but is there anyone on the Hawkeyes that you'd like to see in a Bears uniform? In particular, are there any solid OL?
