Ski (Rick), sent me the message below, and said it was okay to share on this site. It was sent 10 days ago. I haven't been going to the site anymore, but just happened to drop in this morning and found the PM. Looks like he's looking to find someone to take the board over. He's wanting to move on. If he can't find someone, it sounds like the site will be shut down. If you read the message it says there are expenses to keeping the board open. Anyway, here's the PM he sent me:
I just wanted to talk to you about something that is going to be happening here soon. I have 100% lost interest in rooting for Chicago. I haven't lived in Chicago for years. I don't like the violence I see in Chicago. I don't agree with the liberal policies Illinois has. I have even grown apart from watching any NFL games.
One team I will be rooting for is Jacksonville. Since I live extremely close, and I built my retirement home here, I feel I should terminate my support for the Bears. What does this mean?
Well, I was kind of hoping with relaxing the rules, this place wouldn't have to have mods. I also wanted to make it more fun. Maybe in hopes that it would attract me back to this place.
Come Nov 8th, this place will be shut down. I've been trying to find people who want to take this place over. Some of the admin's have shown interest, but stop when I tell them I pay $75 a month for the server bill. This isn't 100% out of pocket. I tend to get between $30-$100 per month in advertising. I haven't even pushed it much. There are ways to have more advertisements, and also companies who want to put things on this site. So its not all about losing $75 a month. This doesn't even include the Superfan option I used.
Why am I telling you this? I know you have a deep affect for the Bears, and I'm trying to find someone to take this off my hands rather than just turn off DaBears.com. Now I did pay good money for this domain. So whoever takes over this site (if any), we'd have to work something out. They would have 100% control. Meaning if they removed me or anyone else, I wouldn't care. I wouldn't be a part of this site in any way. Managing the site isn't as hard as it seems.
Bottom line, I have zero interest in this place, or the Bears.
The biggest hurdle is the cost. I can help anyone run this place (train them).
If you know someone else who might be interested in the group over at the other place that Alex started, let me know.
I'd much rather turn the site over, than turn it off. If I don't get any interest, I may even turn this site off early.
