For those who can't read the tweet. Bears QB Brian Hoyer: "I’m not about taking chances, risking the football. The No. 1 priority is taking care of the football."
Also like to add: Brian Hoyer has yet to throw an interception since taking over for Jay Cutler. His 189 passes are the most in the NFL without a pick this season.
“I’m not about taking chances, risking the football,” Hoyer said Tuesday. “The No. 1 priority is taking care of the football. Whenever you start to turn the football over – I learned the hard way in a playoff game last year – you don’t give yourself a chance to win.” LINK
It's sounds timid for what fans want, but he seems to be learning and understanding reality. Not that it makes him a superstar, or any different than what he has been throughout his journey, but he is right. This team can't overcome the injuries and penalties as it stands now...turnovers are only going to make things worse in 'his' case...so for that i agree with his remarks.
It is still a classic Cutler vs Hoyer situation...with Hoyer you get safe play but nothing too risky. Cutler you get risky but more turnovers.
I wish we could get a QB in the middle of the two extremes of Cutler and Hoyer. Fewer turnovers than Jay. More scoring than Hoyer. Is that too much to hope for?
I saw a bit of Loggains talking on comcast sports and Hoyer seems to be doing what Loggains(and probably Fox) want him to do by taking the underneath and safe throws. He was asked about throwing behind the 1st down marker on 3rd down and Loggains talked about layering the Def and Offense to have open players and said if the def takes away the deep you have to throw short and run for the first.
IMO Loggains is more of the issue. While Hoyer is very limited and not very good, he's parroting and doing what the OC; and likely HC want him to be doing.
