I'm reading more and more about firing people (not from you, but some) We could just get new coaches and GM's every couple of years or so. Then they could gut the roster and keep us in rebuilding mode for decades more. That would make the fans happy. The problem is this. No, you can't win by churning management. But you also can't win with the wrong management. If you have wrong management, your best option is to move quickly. If it creates short term change so be it. It is still better than the alternative.
I have no really weighed in on the firing thing only because you have to be sure and I'm not.
I'm sure Fox is not the guy to win us a Superbowl but I knew that a long time ago. What I am trying to decide is if he is the right guy to lead a turn around. I think too early to tell. There are signs he might not be, but there has been much positive change. Since i don't expect to win a SB with him, my criteria is, are we getting better?
I still have to say yes even with the losses. The fundamentals are better. Players are better and the team is not infighting and are not quitting.
However, anyone could have made improvements over what we had with Trestman.
At some point (and that point is going to be subjective for everyone), you have to see the positives reflected in the scores.
Right now I am still in watch mode. For me, too early to say if Fox should go. All I can say for sure is that the change is not being managed as well as it could be and some bad decisions were made. I do not know who made them, but Pace had to be on board with them so that is also something to watch.

I agree with all of that. And in particular your point about this being subjective for everyone. Who really knows definitively about all of these points yet? Only time will tell. My personal opinion (LOL, for whatever THAT is worth) is:

1. Pace and Fox have obviously made some mistakes so far.
2. The roster rebuild is not complete.
3. There has been a near-complete turnover of personnel is a short time.
4. We've had a very significant amount of injuries (this effect is especially impactful considering point #3).
5. I don't think we have the talent, at this early point, to do much winning, this season.

Could another coach do better that Fox? Certainly there are more polished communicators with fans/media than Fox. The guy is an old curmudgeon for sure. But I am not so sure another coach would have done significantly better in this early stage of the rebuilding of the team. Some are saying Gase was the way to go as HC, but he's gonna get fired in Miami sooner rather than later. That team has more talent than we do, and it's a crapfest down there, IMHO. It's a 1-win team too, and in disarray.

I just think we are paying a painful price for years of talent deterioration on the roster, and not much good can be done until the talent on gameday is better. And Pace and Fox both need to have fewer mistakes. We'll see how this all shakes out. My gut feeling is that we're in for a really rough year as fans. Fans are never patient. Fans often over-simplify issues too (I do too... we're all probably guilty of this to some degree).

Yes, another coach could do better than Fox. You must gameplan to your teams strengths. Floyd every down game one versus Hou that is not. Asking Floyd to play like Young and take on blocks is bull headed at best.

On offense, why was Langford starting? He is not a complete back and certainly can't run well in traffic. We pick up a probowl g and have a rook playing lights out next to Sitton and Long and you wanna go with the worst inside the tackles runner on the roster?

Why have AJ run routes the d isn't respecting because Hoyer won't/ can't make the throw?

This isn't next level shit. That's when you scheme to eliminate the other team's strengths.

So yeah, I think another coach could do better right now. I also think you should see if our DC can run a team. That is a perfectly reasonable way to show Fox the exit midseason.

How our dbs look good with a garbage pass rush is beyond me, and it is going to take more than one decent game against a bad place for me to rethink my position on our rush.
