I doubt there's much to these rumors but yeah I'd trade Cutler while you can get something for him. He's done here and we aren't in win-now mode this season at all.
I don't but any stock in a rumor of Cutler going to Miami either because there have been others written that would refute the possibility. It's good click bait but I don't see it happening and further more what we gain from it? Tannehill is younger than Cutler and that's it so why would we want him?
To give up a starting QB who can win with a decent defense and some blocking should require some pretty decent draft capital in return. Would Miami fork it over or would Gase be better off to keep the picks and draft his own QB? They aren't exactly on the doorstep of SB either and he's only in year one of his contract.
You trade him at this point. Get what you can and move on, maybe use whatever picks he affords you to move up.
However, this is about the weakest "Rumour" i've ever seen
Trade? Maybe Get what you can? No
Never be in a position where you have to accept another man's price for anything of value and no matter how low some Bears fans opinions are of Cutler there are NFL HCs and GMs who know they can win with him.
The Vikes paid a 1st and 4th which becomes a 3rd if they reach the SB for Sam f'n Bradford and Bradford is A) not even close to Cutler as a starter, and B) has an even worse injury history. At the very least that would mark a low point for any offer.
Right now there should be no rush to make any trade unless it came from someone desperate enough to overpay because Cutler can help them now and I can't see that happening. If the offer is good and Pace can see a potential replacement there's plenty of time between now and the draft to make a move and not be under any duress.
The absolute worst case scenario for 2017 is you have Cutler cheap, Hoyer and Shaw competing for a #2 spot along with some yet as to be determined draftee from who knows what round in the mix as well. Get healthy again, fix the rest of the problems, and if we're still stuck with Fox keep him from making or influencing poor personnel decisions and make it clear 2017 is his last shot at fielding a competitive playoff level team. If he gets his head out of his ass it can be done.
If we start all over at QB we might as well blow the rest of what doesn't work up right along with it and set ourselves back another two or three years. I'm sick and tired of watching these guys start over. Fix the bigger problems first and Cutler is not one of them.
