Chicago Bears: It's hard not to love what the Bears have done this offseason, and that's continued into the draft. Friday night included the addition of one of the top centers in the draft, James Daniels, and a wide receiver in Anthony Miller who has the skill set to produce right away. Miller's route-running and toughness have drawn comparisons to Sterling Shepard, a player who made an instant impact at the pro level. (The Bears clearly loved Miller, giving up a 2019 second-round pick and a fourth-rounder this year to get the pick from the Patriots.)
General manager Ryan Pace has done an excellent job supplying coach Matt Nagy and quarterback Mitchell Trubisky with weapons all offseason, providing a clearer vision for the franchise than was ever apparent during the John Fox era.

Gotta agree. It was time for Pace to make some "safe" picks and he did. All three top picks should be able to start this year.

Coming around on what’s happened thus far. Seems to me...
A) The edge rushers in this class were not graded very highly by GMs. Lot of surprising falls. Pace specifically has shown little to no interest thus far despite a glaring need at the position. Armstrong is a guy I like for 115 and I hope there’s SOMEONE he likes there for edge. I can understand taking BPA but there IS A ROSTER to fill out and the Bears need an OLB to develop just as much as they needed a WR or an iOL.
CAN WE PLEASE DRAFT A GUY WHO CAN RUSH THE PASSER PLEASE? Last I checked we are about to play Kirk Cousins, Matthew Stafford, and Aaron Rodgers twice each this year. Just sayin....we might need someone who has a snowballs chance in hell of sacking those guys.
B) IMO the defense has been severely shortchanged this offseason. We will see if Pace gets away with that or there’s a major regression. I hope I’m wrong but I fear the latter is coming.
C) Signing Hankins would be a super-smart move as soon as the draft is over. First, the defense got screwed this offseason and needs some love. Second, he’s the kind of DL that would help Smith thrive. Bullard and RRH aren’t. Besides we need another DL badly anyway.
D) The offense has absolutely zero excuses left for not balling out this season. It has received a huge investment of new talent and the vast majority of the offseason resources in Both coaches and players.
E) Ryan Pace has pushed in all his chips to give Trub the max chance of success. And don’t kid yourself, to save his own skin too as his fate is closely aligned to Trub & Nagy. Downside of that is the D has become the red headed stepchild and I can’t imagine Vic Fangio is very happy right now. He’s been given almost nothing.

He has made solid smart moves. I didn't agree with Smith but they targetted the guy they wanted and got him, same with the next 2. He has 3 guys capable of starting in the first e 3 picks.
My only complaint is he needs to find a way to gain draft picks instead of losing them.

I think Smith was Fangio's pick and getting Vic what he identifies as his prime need was (IMO) part of the deal for getting Vic to stay.
I agree on getting more picks. But if Miller was on e of the guys who Nagy and his staff had identified as a high value prospect, I understand his motivation for getting him. And a hopefully mid to late 3rd round pick (that is assumedly what next years 2nd is worth on the value chart) and a high 4th round pick is a pretty even swap for the late 2nd round pick we received.

But he did gain a pick. He got pick #51 this year in exchange for his #105 4th round pick and an unknown 2019 2nd and drafted a productive WR who many feel is a steal in round two. Some had a 1st round grade on Miller.
Essentially all we did was swap next years 2nd round pick for one this year for the price of one of our two 4ths. We weren't likely to get a player of Miller's caliber at #105 anyway. IMHO it was a shrewd deal on Pace's part.
