No I mean it's all over, the speculation of Sims getting cut was on the radio, on twitter fans reporters everyone. But at no time had there been a hint from the Bears that they would cut him; not just you or a couple other people. Yep, Goldman was who I meant thanks.
I only meant that there are a couple of guys that can be cut every year... Until Trub's rookie contract is up we will be ok cap wise. Not flexibile like this year, but also not over it either. When you have so many young guys (and hopefully productive) it is normal to have some cap issues.
This is where the Bears will need to start hitting on the draft even more then they have already; and getting more draft picks. Hopefully the Bears can start getting some compensatory picks also as they lose some players and pick up fewer. It's a good problem to have as the comp picks can help garner more rookie contracts on a roster, and not necessarily all be bad players
Won't happen this year w/the signings of Robinson/Burton etc, but losing guys like Sitton will start to change that tide to the Bears favor eventually as they have to start turning inward to re sign their own.

Comp picks dont bother me, I know we never get them and Packers always do... Pace is really good at draft, only blur is White, hopefully we get it real good in rd1 this year, even better than Floyd

We've tended to structure contracts in ways that avoid cap problems several years later and I don't see that changing. Pace has shown no hesitancy to move on from players whose paychecks are larger than their potential production and in many instances those moves have not been popular among fans.
Releasing Sitton ($8 mil) but keeping Sims ($6 mil) would be a good example.
Every year post FA some writers will warn of impending cap issues yet they haven't become a problem. As long as the cap keeps rising and we structure deals well we shouldn't end up in cap hell at all but once we have to pay Mitch top of scale for an NFL QB we'll need to draft more players than sign as UFA.
Leming with a new update saying after the Robinson CAP hits we have 32M. Tbat would be enough for another tier II signing and extending Goldman & Amos/Callahan/Meredith.

He's estimating $32 mil less $5 mil for the draft pool to come up with $27 mil whereas I used a full $7.5 mil for the draft pool like Spotrac does to come up with $25-$26 mil. So we're in the same ball park give or take $1-$1.5 mil. $5 mil is actually more realistic but IMHO it's always better or over allow than under allow for any contingency. Too much cap trumps too little.

He was included IMO, but after this Packers failed acrobatics hes gonna have an even lower cap number this year I believe
from what I read the cap is good this year, but at some point the Bears will want/need to restructure the deal in the future to fix the issues w/the cap before the end of his deal.
Think I read Lemming state that while all the deals the Bears signed this year are good, it's going to create cap issues which will mean less FA moves for the next few years; which is to be expected.
If we are finally getting better, we will need to make less FA moves in the future. I certainly hope we aren't signing 2/3rds of a passing offense every offseason going forward.

I don't think any of the tendered guys will be offered extensions until 1/2 way through the season if then. Over all I think they are in a good position cap wise.
