I have to admit that I'm curious since it's dragging on longer than I expected. I guess once a DC reaches the level Fangio has a there's a turnover at the HC spot and he's a guy you've never worked with maybe there are more wrinkles to be ironed out.

I agree. Like you, I thought this would be wrapped up by now but I still think he will be a Bears coordinator. I imagine that money and specfic control might still be issues, but I have no idea.
Yeah...I'm getting a little antsy with the Fangio stuff. But with Green Bay and Cincy hiring their guys, right now there are not any other spots open until new HC's are hired in the remaining open places. He could be dragging it along to gain more leverage when spots open up.

Or maybe he is hoping for more HC interviews.
Could be either but where? Based on how the rest are lining up he'd almost end up as a default choice for a team who couldn't get "their guy". Indy if McD doesn't say yes? Detroit if Patricia goes with NYG? DC in Seattle now that Richard got the boot?
It's closer to SF.
From the looks of it he may be playing his own Free Agents status out for as long as he can knowing he has Chicago in hand but I can't see them not putting some kind of deadline on it before Pace and Nagy move on and start looking at other options.

Yeah I'd be hard pressed to think he's waiting on HC interviews. The only one I'm aware of that asked to interview him was the Bears...so I think he has to see the writing on the wall with that.
Not yet. They may be working out some details of his contract and won't announce 'til it's done.
They are stuck at the part where Fang wants it in the contract that Sweaty Teddy shine his shoes and do the lunch-run for him each day. George is giving it his full-consideration though.

He wants a shiny new pair of those nifty horn rimmed glasses that Teddy wears. And he wants one every year.
The staff started getting violently ill at the thought of two Teddys walking around. They are trying to work it out, but both sides are said to be entrenched. Fangio will not stay on without the glasses and the staff refuse to have any Teddy clones. Fangio has even promised not to sweat, but that has not broken the logjam (Loggjam?)
It is a very sensitive negotiation and they have asked for federal negotiators to assist, but they are all assigned to negotiating a new platinum level twitter account for Trump so they are going to have to figure this out on their own. It is a tense situation and it is feared that there could be hostages soon.
